China's Ministry of Commerce said on November 9 that it had imposed exemptions on the export of chips from Nexperia that meet standards for civilian use.

A day earlier, the Chinese government announced it was waiting for concrete actions from the Netherlands to resolve the dispute related to Nexperia, which has led to a chip shortage for the company and threatened the auto manufacturing industry.

In a new statement, China's Ministry of Commerce said it welcomed the European side's efforts to urge the Netherlands to correct measures that Beijing called "wrong."

The European Commission (EC) also announced on November 8 that China confirmed the partial restoration of Nexperia's chip export activities.

Nexperia has been embroiled in a dispute with its Chinese subsidiary after the Dutch government took control of Nexperia from its Chinese owner Wingtech Technology on September 30.

The company also removed its Chinese CEO, amid concerns that the company's technology could be appropriated by Wingtech.

On October 4, China's Ministry of Commerce decided to block Nexperia from exporting chips from China.

China's Wingtech Group bought all of Nexperia from Philips Group, for about $3.63 billion in 2018. The company is now one of the world's largest manufacturers of simple chips such as diodes and transistors.

However, the company also develops more advanced chips, such as those used to optimize battery performance. Large quantities of chips produced in the Netherlands are widely used in the automotive and consumer electronics industries.

Most of them are assembled in China and sold mainly to distributors./.
