According to the National Assembly 's working plan, this morning (November 10), the National Assembly will hold a separate meeting on personnel work.
In the afternoon, the National Assembly discussed in the hall two projects in the health sector, namely the Population Law project and the Disease Prevention Law project. After the discussion, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan will explain and clarify a number of issues raised by National Assembly deputies.
Previously, on October 23, National Assembly deputies discussed these two draft laws in groups. The two draft laws received great attention from deputies with many comments.
Many delegates said that the draft Population Law needs to add more comprehensive policies, such as focusing only on the pre- and neonatal stages, lacking policies for the important developmental stages of children. Delegates also said that the policies of the Law are not groundbreaking. The support for people to maintain the new birth rate focuses on the issue of maternity leave and financial support, which is low compared to the world , while people need more fundamental issues such as employment and child-rearing support. Policies to adapt to population aging also need to change their approach and there are no policy regulations to support elderly care models.
Similarly, the draft Law on Disease Prevention was also assessed by delegates as needing to be reviewed and supplemented with many contents such as the need for policies to mobilize social resources for disease prevention work, the need for specific policies for ethnic minority areas, etc./.
