The National Assembly elected the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court.

The 15th National Assembly elected Mr. Nguyen Van Quang to hold the position of Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court for the 2021-2026 term, with 440/441 delegates in favor.

Continuing the program of the 10th Session of the 15th National Assembly, on the morning of November 10, at the National Assembly House, under the direction of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, the National Assembly voted to pass the Resolution of the National Assembly on the election of Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court for the 2021-2026 term for Mr. Nguyen Van Quang.

Attending the meeting were Politburo member, General Secretary To Lam; Politburo member, President Luong Cuong; Politburo member, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; leaders of the Party, State, and Vietnam Fatherland Front.

The electronic voting results showed that 440/441 National Assembly deputies present voted in favor, reaching 92.83%. Thus, with the majority of deputies in favor, the National Assembly voted to pass the National Assembly Resolution on the election of Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court for the 2021-2026 term for Mr. Nguyen Van Quang.

After the National Assembly passed the Resolution on the election of Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court (SPC), National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man invited Chief Justice of the SPC Nguyen Van Quang to take the oath of office before the National Assembly.

Witnessed by the leaders of the Party, State, Fatherland Front and National Assembly deputies, Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court Nguyen Van Quang swore: "Under the sacred red flag with yellow star of the Fatherland, before the National Assembly, compatriots and voters nationwide, I - Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, swear: Absolutely loyal to the Fatherland, to the People, to the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, striving to fulfill the tasks assigned by the Party, State and People".

In his inaugural speech, Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court Nguyen Van Quang expressed his sincere thanks to the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, General Secretary To Lam and other leaders, the Party and the State for entrusting him with the new responsibility, and the National Assembly for electing him to the position of Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court. Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court Nguyen Van Quang affirmed that, in his capacity as head of the judicial body, the body exercising judicial power according to the provisions of the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, he will properly fulfill his oath before the National Assembly; comply with the leadership of the Party, properly implement the principles and provisions of the Constitution and laws; and will, together with the entire political system and judicial bodies, achieve the highest goal of protecting justice, protecting human rights, citizens' rights, protecting the socialist regime, protecting the interests of the State, and the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals.

Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court Nguyen Van Quang said that he will continuously train, strive, and learn from the experiences of his predecessors; uphold the role, responsibility, and exemplary role of the leader; together with the Party Committee and leadership of the Supreme People's Court and the Council of Judges of the Supreme People's Court, unite, unify, and promote the achievements of the sector over the past 80 years. At the same time, he will continue to promote the results, achievements, and lessons learned from recent terms; be determined, resolute, and constantly innovate in implementing the Party's policies and guidelines on judicial reform, building a socialist rule-of-law state, perfecting the legal system, contributing to creating and promoting national development in the new era. In particular, the key task of the sector in 2026 and the following years is to concretize the instructions of General Secretary To Lam at the ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the People's Court's tradition.

Strengthening discipline, building a strong, professional and honest team of cadres and judges to create a solid foundation for implementing and improving the quality and efficiency of trial activities of courts at all levels; successfully completing the targets and requirements set by the National Assembly,” Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court Nguyen Van Quang emphasized.

Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court Nguyen Van Quang hopes to continue receiving the attention, leadership and direction of the Central Executive Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, General Secretary To Lam and other Party and State leaders for the Court sector; at the same time, he hopes to receive the support, facilitation and increased supervision of the People, the National Assembly, National Assembly deputies and People's Councils for the activities of People's Courts at all levels.
