Latest pig price news
On June 9, 2025, the animal feed market in Vietnam continued to record a downward trend in raw material prices, while finished product prices remained unchanged. According to information from the Vietnam Commodity Exchange (MXV), the prices of corn, dry soybeans and wheat - the main raw materials - have decreased by 15% to 30% compared to the beginning of the year. The main reason for this development is the abundant global supply, combined with slightly reduced consumption demand from China and other import markets.
However, the domestic supply chain is still incomplete and heavily dependent on imports (more than 40% of demand), making raw material prices vulnerable to short-term fluctuations in the international market. At the same time, Vietnam has just signed an agreement to import animal feed ingredients worth more than 600 million USD from Ohio, USA on June 4, which promises to improve future supply and contribute to stabilizing input prices.
In fact, the price of finished animal feed such as pig feed and mixed feed is still fluctuating between 282,000 - 320,000 VND/25 kg bag, with no sign of a sharp decrease. The reason is that production, transportation and packaging costs have not decreased correspondingly, along with the fact that businesses are still cautious in adjusting selling prices.
This situation creates favorable conditions for livestock producers: the prolonged reduction in raw material prices will help reduce production costs and improve profits. However, the market needs to closely monitor factors such as fluctuations in global agricultural prices, the USD exchange rate, and import tax policies - especially when new raw materials from Ohio are imported in the second half of the year. In the short term, livestock producers should continue to apply cost-saving measures, while feed manufacturers need to prepare flexible pricing policies to adapt to market developments.
