Since the beginning of June, the Lao Cai Youth Activity Center has been bustling with summer talent classes. One of the most popular classes is swimming. In the hot summer afternoon weather, we met Bui Ngan Thuong (Kim Tan ward, Lao Cai city) practicing in the cool blue water.
Ngan Thuong shared: "I signed up for swimming lessons because I wanted to gain more knowledge to prevent drowning, and at the same time improve my health and become more confident."

Accompanying the children in the class is “teacher” Lo Choi Phong, a collaborator of the Lao Cai Province Youth Activity Center. “Teacher” Phong said: “In addition to instructing the children in basic and advanced swimming techniques, the class also focuses on training skills in handling situations, rescue, and rescue in case of accidents in the water. After the course, the children will not only know how to swim but also develop endurance, flexibility, discipline, and perseverance.”

Currently, the Lao Cai Youth Activity Center organizes two swimming classes every day in the morning and afternoon, with each class having from 10 to 15 students. The swimming class is one of more than 20 summer talent classes implemented by the center in 2025. In addition to sports such as soccer, badminton, chess, art classes such as modern dance, vocal music, MCing, life skills, communication skills, accident prevention skills, etc. are also opened, giving students many options.

Not only the Youth Activity Center, this summer also witnessed the flourishing of many gifted classes at many private units. At Ty Toay Fine Arts Shop (Kim Tan Ward, Lao Cai City), the drawing class attracted many students of all ages.
Participating in the class, To Dinh Phong (Duyen Hai ward, Lao Cai city) shared: “I joined this class because I wanted to improve my painting talent. Here, the teacher guided me on how to draw details and mix colors. Studying with friends was fun and rewarding.”

Ms. Dinh Thi Thu, an art teacher, said: Right after posting the recruitment notice, nearly a dozen parents registered their children for a trial class. We organized a free trial class for the children to get acquainted, thereby discovering and nurturing their love for fine arts.

Not only bustling in Lao Cai city, summer 2025 has also become particularly exciting in other localities in the province. The Center for Culture, Sports and Communications of Bao Yen district has proactively developed a plan to open summer talent classes to create a healthy and useful entertainment playground for teenagers and children in the area. According to the plan, the talent classes will open in mid-June 2025, focusing on many areas such as modern dance, dance, child MC, taekwondo and football. These are all classes that not only help children develop their talents in culture, art or physical education and sports, but also create conditions for them to practice life skills, improve physical strength and confidence in communication.
Organizing gifted classes at the district level shows the close attention of localities to the care, education and comprehensive development of children and adolescents, while contributing to spreading the spirit of "learning while playing, playing while learning", ensuring that children, whether in central areas or remote areas, have the opportunity to access an environment to practice and develop their own abilities during meaningful summer days.
By organizing flexibly, creatively and with diverse content, summer classes are not only a playground but also a "fertile land" for each student to discover themselves, develop skills and enjoy a full and meaningful summer.
