On the morning of June 9, a discussion with the theme "The role of the press in propagating Resolution No. 68 of the Politburo on private economic development" took place at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Ho Chi Minh City National University) with the participation of leaders of press agencies, businesses, management agencies and scientists.

The press no longer follows policy but must go ahead to pave the way.

Speaking at the seminar, Mr. Phan Xuan Thuy - Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission - affirmed that Resolution No. 68 issued by the Politburo is a strategic turning point, placing the private economic sector in a central position with clear goals and strong commitments. According to Mr. Thuy, Resolution 68 positions the role of the private economy as the most important component in the market economy, together with the state economy and the collective economy, forming a solid "tripod" for an independent and autonomous economy.

According to Mr. Thuy, press agencies play an important role in propagating and disseminating, contributing to quickly bringing Resolution 68 into life.

"The press needs to boldly reflect on shortcomings, propose initiatives and solutions to contribute to perfecting policies, improving the business environment, and clearly performing the functions and tasks of the Vietnamese revolutionary press, which is to act as a "bridge" between policies and life, between the State and people and businesses, between the Party's will and the people's hearts," said Mr. Thuy.

Mr. Thuy raised the issue that the press needs to create widespread interest in society for Resolution 68, raise awareness of the role of the private economy and help the public understand the purpose and benefits of the resolution for the people, businesses and the country.

"The press no longer follows policy but must go ahead to pave the way, create positive images and trust in society," Mr. Thuy emphasized.

Sharing about specific steps, Mr. Chu said that Tuoi Tre newspaper has built a comprehensive communication strategy, going into depth by grouping propaganda objects, has built a long-term propaganda plan, divided into two groups of businesses: business households, small and micro enterprises and large enterprises, corporations, technology startups.

To implement this, Tuoi Tre newspaper has built a cluster of key topics, accompanying the policy, including: institutions and policies, resources, enterprises going to the sea, startups, innovation and corporate culture.

"A strong private economy not only needs mechanisms, but also needs accompanying media to spread confidence, foster aspirations and promote action. With a pioneering spirit, Tuoi Tre newspaper is committed to closely following Resolution 68, promoting the strength of media, becoming a reliable transmission channel, helping society understand, agree and act together for the development of the private economy," Mr. Chu affirmed.

Journalist Nguyen Ngoc Anh - deputy editor-in-chief of Saigon Giai Phong newspaper - said that this unit identified the dissemination of Resolution 68 as a key political task - not only disseminating the content but also contributing to eliminating prejudices, adding confidence and motivation to the private business community.

Mr. Ngoc Anh recommended that ministries, branches and localities closely coordinate with the press in providing timely information, creating conditions to recognize typical examples, receiving and responding to opinions from business practices to implement Resolution 68.

At the seminar, many press agencies also raised the issue of the need for the press to constantly innovate, apply modern technology, and improve professional capacity to provide accurate and objective information, strongly inspiring the business community in implementing Resolution 68.

There needs to be a cooperation mechanism between authorities and the press.

In his concluding remarks, Mr. Huynh Thanh Dat - Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission - affirmed the pioneering mission of the Vietnamese revolutionary press in the new development period. The discussion took place in the context of the 100th anniversary of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press Day, demonstrating deep concern for the role of the press in implementing important policies and guidelines of the Party and State.

According to Mr. Dat, there needs to be close coordination between press agencies and departments, ministries, branches and localities because press agencies are eager to receive "orders" for information from state management agencies to communicate policies in a timely manner. Local authorities need to proactively provide information on good models and good practices, and at the same time be receptive when the press reflects on existing problems, considering it a monitoring channel to help self-correct.

For businesses, on the basis of sincerity and mutual understanding, the press and businesses will together create value, convey messages to promote entrepreneurial spirit, and spread belief in the bright future of the private economy.
