Within the framework of the workshop "Resolution 68-NQ/TW on private economic development: What opportunities for listed enterprises and public companies?", Vietnam Prosperity Joint Stock Commercial Bank (VPBank, HoSE: VPB) was honored in the Top 5 listed enterprises with the highest ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard (ACGS) assessment results in 2024.
At the workshop, speakers emphasized that corporate governance is the core factor that helps businesses take advantage of opportunities from Resolution 68, develop rapidly and sustainably, and integrate more deeply into the international market.
In fact, in Vietnam, a number of listed enterprises have begun to focus on complying with and improving governance quality according to international standards and practices, notably the application of ACGS.
In terms of ACGS scores, listed companies in Vietnam still have a significant gap compared to the ASEAN region. However, leading companies, including VPBank, have recorded scores that are superior to the domestic average and approaching the regional average.
VPBank representative shared about the award: "The bank's excellent presence in the top 5 enterprises in terms of ACGS score in Vietnam is a clear demonstration of its persistent efforts to continuously improve governance quality according to best practices in the region and internationally. This year, VPBank also published an independent Sustainable Development Report, continuing to affirm its pioneering position on the journey of sustainable development."
Over the years, VPBank has always considered corporate governance as the core foundation to ensure stable operations and long-term growth. In parallel with applying the ACGS criteria, VPBank has also actively implemented the good governance principles developed by the State Securities Commission and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), along with the sustainability reporting standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.
Recently, VPBank has released its first independent Sustainability Report, applying the latest international standards. Not stopping there, VPBank has also set a record by arranging a $1 billion loan to support sustainable finance from leading international financial institutions.
