At the invitation of the Venezuelan Ministry of Agriculture and Land, from June 5-9, a working delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment of Vietnam led by Professor, Dr. Nguyen Hong Son, Director of the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences (VAAS) visited, worked and attended the AGROALBA 2025 International Agricultural Fair in Venezuela.
During the working trip, the delegation met with Mr. Jorge Márquez, Vice President of Venezuela and Chairman of the Venezuela-Vietnam Intergovernmental Commission; met and worked with Minister of Agriculture and Land Julio León, Minister of Industry and National Production Alex Saab; and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Tatiana Pugh.
On this occasion, the delegation conducted a survey to explore the potential for cooperation in Guárico state - one of the localities producing many key agricultural products of Venezuela.

During the meetings, the Venezuelan side highly appreciated Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements, especially in the field of agricultural production, and expressed its desire to learn from Vietnam's experience and strengthen cooperation to realize the goal of ensuring food security, gradually becoming the leading agricultural exporter in Latin America.

Speaking at the reception for the delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment of Vietnam, Vice President Jorge Márquez affirmed that the Venezuelan government fully supports and is ready to accompany Vietnamese businesses to invest in the agricultural sector.
According to the Vice President, Venezuela has prepared 100,000 hectares of agricultural land specifically for Vietnamese investors, and emphasized that as Chairman of the Intergovernmental Committee of the two countries, he will directly monitor and support the implementation of cooperation initiatives.

Sharing the same view with Vice President Jorge Márquez, Minister of Industry and National Production Alex Saab highly appreciated Vietnam's level, experience and capacity in agricultural science and technology, saying that this is an important foundation for building effective cooperation models suitable for Venezuela's practical conditions.

According to Minister Alex Saab, of the total of more than 30 million hectares of arable land that Venezuela owns, only about 4 million hectares are currently put into production. Meanwhile, the Venezuelan government has planned 3.3 million hectares for cultivation and 13.7 million hectares for livestock farming within the framework of agricultural cooperation projects under the Alliance of American States (ALBA), in which Vietnam is a priority partner.

During the field trip to Guárico state, the delegation was welcomed by Governor Donald Donaire and personally led to visit potential lands for agricultural cooperation.
Governor Donald Donaire said that although he had only taken office on June 6, he was directly instructed by the Venezuelan Government to receive the Vietnamese delegation and create the most favorable conditions for their research and survey in the locality.

Mr. Donald Donaire believes that with the successful cooperation results in the 2016-2018 period between Guárico state and Vietnamese partners, this return will open a new chapter with many prospects in agricultural relations between the two countries.
Meanwhile, speaking at the working sessions, Professor, Dr. Nguyen Hong Son sincerely thanked the warm welcome and goodwill of cooperation from the Venezuelan government, ministries, sectors and local authorities, and affirmed that Vietnam is ready to accompany and share experiences with Venezuela in the spirit of mutually beneficial cooperation.
According to the Director of VAAS, with the attention and commitment of the leaders of the two countries, the close coordination of functional agencies and the active participation of the business community, cooperation in the agricultural sector will soon become one of the strategic pillars in the Vietnam-Venezuela comprehensive partnership.
