Taking care of patients' health in hot weather

In the face of widespread hot weather in many areas across the country, affecting people's lives and the working environment, the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management (Ministry of Health) has just sent an official dispatch to directors of hospitals under the Ministry of Health; directors of health departments of provinces and centrally run cities; heads of health departments of ministries and branches on health care for patients and medical staff at medical examination and treatment facilities during hot weather.

Accordingly, the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management requested heads of units to prepare medicines, equipment, and emergency vehicles at hospitals and outpatient clinics; train and instruct on first aid skills for people with heatstroke, heat shock, and especially stroke; be ready to promptly provide emergency aid to patients...

Units review the implementation of relevant criteria in the Hospital Quality Criteria Set 2.0: increase ventilation in areas with a large number of patients such as waiting rooms, corridors, install additional canopies for walkways between buildings and in outdoor areas with many patients' relatives... At the same time, units arrange and provide enough free drinking water for patients and their relatives in clinical departments and waiting rooms; add water dispensers in locations where there is a shortage or when there is high demand on hot days.
