For many years, Bac Lieu has been the leading locality in terms of the number of outstanding regional tourist destinations. Entering 2025, Bac Lieu aims to realize its aspiration of becoming one of the tourism centers of the Mekong Delta. This ambitious goal is concretized by the Provincial People's Committee through an Action Program, with solid steps to maximize internal and external resources to develop tourism to become a pillar of the province's economy.
INTEGRATED INVESTMENT
Determined to address the long-standing weaknesses in tourism , the province's tourism development action plan focuses on mobilizing social resources to invest in the development of technical infrastructure. Regarding accommodation, the province continues to upgrade hotels to serve tourists, gradually increasing the percentage of high-end establishments and upgrading guesthouses to 1-star hotels… in order to meet the accommodation needs of various tourist groups.
To create greater appeal and increase competitiveness with other localities in the region, the province is creating favorable conditions to support investors in accelerating the implementation of tourism projects that have been granted investment certificates; inviting investors to carry out large-scale tourism service projects, especially building high-quality shopping and entertainment centers in Bac Lieu City; rest stops, display and sales points for souvenirs, specialties, and OCOP products. In addition, it is investing in commercial and culinary business districts, night entertainment centers, and pedestrian streets associated with promoting the unique cultural features of the three ethnic groups Kinh, Khmer, and Hoa to retain tourists in Bac Lieu.
The province is also actively investing in addressing transportation infrastructure bottlenecks to ensure smooth traffic flow and enhance connectivity between tourist areas and destinations. Accordingly, it is actively inviting investment in the development of ferry and bus terminals in areas with favorable conditions for tourism development, including port facilities and waterways connecting the mainland to the islands to form the Bac Lieu - Hon Trung tourist route. In response to the demands of development in the digital age, Bac Lieu tourism is improving its information technology infrastructure and accelerating digital transformation through the digitization of information and documents about tourist destinations, building digital databases to create and develop a smart tourism ecosystem.

LEVERAGING PRODUCT STRENGTHS
To create a competitive advantage and affirm its unique identity in the regional tourism landscape, Bac Lieu's tourism industry in 2025 has identified that it will focus its efforts on effectively exploiting and promoting its distinctive products, especially those that have already established brands in the market. Typical examples include the theatrical adaptation of the legend of the Bac Lieu Prince associated with the Bac Lieu Prince's House architectural and artistic relic; developing experiential activities at the Southern Traditional Music and Cao Van Lau Memorial Area according to OCOP 4-star product standards; developing coastal tourism tours in Bac Lieu with destinations including: the wind power tourism area, the high-tech agricultural area for shrimp farming, and forest ecotourism… In particular, it will coordinate with consulting units and relevant parties to develop a plan for the development of the Nha Mat National Tourist Area to create a chain of high-quality, attractive products and services, and to serve as a basis for attracting investment in large-scale projects.
In addition, the province is effectively promoting the project to preserve ancient longan trees in conjunction with tourism development through the establishment of cooperative models to link households in economic development by exploiting services and products associated with local culture to serve tourists. With the goal of developing tourism in a sustainable and non-repetitive manner, the province continues to review and assess tourism resources to create a basis for concentrating investment resources for development in accordance with the actual conditions of each locality. Accordingly, five development spaces are being defined: the central tourism space of Bac Lieu City; the coastal tourism space of Bac Lieu City; the coastal ecological belt tourism space from the border of Bac Lieu City to the Ganh Hao estuary (Dong Hai district) ; Gia Rai - Dong Hai tourism area; Vinh Loi - Hong Dan - Phuoc Long tourism area.
By outlining decisive steps that are appropriate to its existing potential and advantages, Bac Lieu's tourism industry will develop to its full potential as an important economic sector – one of the pillars contributing to the province's further progress.
