The patient was a senior officer of the Mongolian unit who suffered a complete rupture of the Achilles tendon in his left leg during training. After being examined and thoroughly consulted by the medical team of the No. 7 Level 2 Field Hospital, the patient expressed his trust and desire to have surgery right at the hospital to facilitate treatment and mission command.
After reporting the situation, requesting permission and receiving approval from the Force Medical Officer (FMO) as this was an expanded case of treatment, Level 2 Field Hospital No. 7 scheduled and performed the surgery.

Directly in charge of the surgery was Dr. Tran Duc Tai - Director of the Hospital. After nearly an hour of focused and precise work, the surgical team reconnected the two torn tendon ends using the modified Krackow tendon suturing technique, ensuring stability, minimizing bleeding and helping the tendon recover in the correct physiological direction. The entire surgery took place under absolutely sterile conditions, supported by a strict anesthesia-resuscitation system and infection control.
After surgery, the patient was taken to the recovery room and closely monitored. Dr. Tran Duc Tai directly examined, instructed on care, and performed early rehabilitation exercises to ensure the tendons healed well and the patient could return to work in the shortest time possible. Up to now, the patient's health is stable, the surgical wound is dry, healed well, and recovery is smooth.

Thus, as of October 22, exactly one month since the deployment date (September 22, 2025), Level 2 Field Hospital No. 7 has performed 3 successful surgeries, including 2 emergency surgeries and 1 Achilles tendon surgery for international officers; performed 1 medical airlift (Medevac); received, examined and treated 200 patients (data as of 9:00 p.m. on October 22); fully participated in specialized peacekeeping training courses organized by the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in South Sudan; comprehensively stabilized professional, logistical, cultural and spiritual work, ready to excellently complete the mission in the next phase.
These results once again affirm the professional capacity, dedication and beautiful image of Vietnamese doctors and blue beret soldiers, contributing to spreading the values of peace and humanity in the heart of Africa.
