The Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee held its year-end meeting to discuss many important issues.

(HMC) - On December 15th, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee's Executive Board, first term 2025-2030 (expanded), held its second meeting to discuss important issues. Central Party Committee Secretary and Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Secretary Tran Luu Quang chaired the meeting.

Also attending were: Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Le Quoc Phong; Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc; Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council Vo Van Minh; Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Phuoc Loc; Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Dang Minh Thong; and Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Van Thi Bach Tuyet.

In his opening remarks at the conference, Party Secretary Tran Luu Quang noted that 2025 is a year of special significance, with many major changes related to the governance of the entire political system at the national level, including Ho Chi Minh City. With a larger scale and more challenging tasks, the city has still achieved encouraging results in recent times.

To set the direction for discussion, he outlined several major tasks for the Conference. First, to address the existing problems and obstacles facing Ho Chi Minh City, especially four issues: reducing traffic congestion; resolving flooding; controlling environmental pollution; and building a "Civilized City - Drug-Free". This suggestion was made by General Secretary To Lam at the recent City Party Congress.

Next, discussions should focus on developing Ho Chi Minh City into a new city with a larger scale, broader scope, stronger potential, and playing the role of the country's economic engine; a center for science and technology development and digital transformation; a place to apply new models such as the International Financial Center and the Free Trade Zone;... All of this aims to ensure the overarching goal of improving the lives of Ho Chi Minh City residents.

"The task set for this Conference is immense. I hope that you all will actively speak and discuss with heartfelt opinions, so that we can unify our actions, come up with good ideas and effective methods, and contribute to achieving success starting in 2026," the City Party Secretary requested, while also mentioning the goal of achieving double-digit economic growth.

This conference focuses on discussing and providing feedback on the socio-economic situation of the city in 2025 and key tasks and solutions for 2026; Party building, government building, and mass mobilization work in 2025 and key tasks and solutions for 2026.

The Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee also discussed several issues related to the overall work program of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term; and the 2026 work program of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, term I, 2025-2030.

In addition, the document includes content on the inspection and supervision program of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term; and the working regulations of the City Party Committee's Inspection Committee for the 2025-2030 term.

The conference is expected to conclude in the afternoon of the same day.
