Everyone is racing against time, determined to complete the national key project in time for the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2.

It is known that since mid-June, more than 250 officers and soldiers from agencies and units in the Military Region 2 have marched to construction sites, starting the days of "eating in tents and sleeping in the forest", eating, living and working together with officers and workers in the electricity industry. Their tasks are very diverse, from leveling the ground, repairing mobile roads to transport materials and equipment to the top of high hills, weaving iron, assembling formwork, pouring concrete for column foundations to ensuring security and safety for the construction area.

Officers and soldiers of Military Region 2 participated in supporting the construction of the 500kV Vinh Yen - Lao Cai transmission line project.

Despite facing numerous difficulties, from rugged terrain, harsh weather to high work intensity, the spirit of shock, responsibility and determination have become strong motivations that urge each officer and soldier to overcome everything. Talking to us, soldier Tran Van Long, Company 5, Battalion 2, Regiment 174 (Division 316), who has spent more than a month "staying" at the location of columns VT240, VT241 in Thac Ba commune (Lao Cai province), which is identified as one of the key locations of the project, shared: "The location of the column we are in charge of construction is on the top of a high mountain, the road is muddy and slippery due to rain, so transporting materials up here is extremely difficult. There were times when we had to use human strength to carry each steel bar, each bag of cement over steep slopes. But with great determination, we overcame everything."

Thao Mi Thang, a soldier of Company 4, Battalion 1, Regiment 174, shared with a strong voice mixed with pride: “Although the work is hard, requires physical strength and high meticulousness, when we think about the project being completed on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, we have more motivation. Being able to contribute a small part to the overall development of the country is the greatest happiness for us as soldiers.”

Not only the young soldiers, the team of officers and commanders also demonstrated a high sense of responsibility and determination when carrying out the task, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Hai Trang, Deputy Commander of Regiment 174, who is directly in charge of the force of officers and soldiers of the unit participating in supporting the project construction, emphasized: “Our unit was assigned to support the construction of the 500kV power line project in the area of Luc Yen and Thac Ba communes of Lao Cai province. Right from the beginning of receiving the task, we determined that this was not only an economic project, but also a key political task, demonstrating the responsibility of the Army to the Fatherland and the people. We believe that, with the strong direction from above, the close coordination between units and especially with the strong will and steel spirit of Uncle Ho's soldiers, we will excellently complete the assigned task, contributing to bringing the project to the finish line on schedule".

Also part of the Military Region's military units participating in supporting the project, Brigade 297 is in charge of many important items of the 500kV transmission line in Hai Luu commune ( Phu Tho province). In the urgent atmosphere of the construction site, officers and soldiers of Brigade 297 did not hesitate to face difficulties, braving the harsh summer sun or sudden rains of the midlands, tirelessly working with construction units to complete the work of digging and pouring foundations, transporting materials and erecting columns. Each drill bit, each pickaxe stroke was soaked with sweat and high determination.

Talking to us, although his face was still covered in mud, soldier Ly Van Luu, Battalion 1, Brigade 297 shared: “The first days here, seeing the muddy terrain, I was a bit worried. But when I saw my comrades and teammates working hard, I was even more motivated. Although it was hard, we were always proud to contribute a part of our efforts to the country's key project.”

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Trong Trang, Deputy Chief of Staff of Brigade 279, said: “Thoroughly implementing the Prime Minister's directive of "speed, even faster", every officer and soldier participating in supporting the construction of the 500kV line considers this a big battle and is determined to strive to complete the project on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2. To do this, we have synchronously deployed many solutions from organizing peak emulation periods, timely rewards to motivate our comrades to strengthening training, skill development, inspection and supervision to ensure absolute safety during the construction process”.

Appreciating the role of Military Region 2 in supporting construction units, comrade Dang Hoang An, former Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Chairman of the Board of Members of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) emphasized: “Military Region 2 has demonstrated its core role as a shock force in supporting the construction of the Vinh Yen - Lao Cai 500kV transmission line project. With the close direction of the Party Committee and the Military Region 2 Command, the units promptly mobilized forces and means, closely coordinated with the investor and contractors, and quickly resolved difficulties and problems arising during the construction process. This is truly timely and effective support, contributing to accelerating the progress of this national key project”.
