With this result, the Australian U23 women's team won the right to enter the final to meet Myanmar, while the Vietnamese women's team missed out on the championship and will face Thailand in the third-place match.

Commenting on this match, Football Australia wrote: “The Vietnamese women’s team only scored a late goal through Bich Thuy. In the following minutes, they could not overcome the Australian U23 women’s defense and accepted defeat with a score of 1-2.

Before that, the Australian U23 women's team had scored two goals in just 17 minutes. The second goal of the team came from a long-range shot from about 25m by McKenna, a truly memorable moment.

After defeating host Vietnam, the Australian U23 women's team is just one match away from winning the Southeast Asian women's football championship. Coach Joseph Palatsides' team will meet Myanmar again in the final.

The ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) website commented: “The Vietnamese women’s team unexpectedly conceded two goals quite easily after only 17 minutes. They were forced to push forward to find a goal but failed.

It was not until the 88th minute that Bich Thuy scored a late equalizer, creating excitement for the fans at Lach Tray Stadium. Although the Vietnamese women's team put on suffocating pressure in the last 10 minutes of the match, the Australian U23 women's team still resisted excellently. They affirmed their position as the team that reached the final of the Southeast Asian women's football tournament.

According to the schedule, the Vietnamese women's team will face Thailand in the third-place match at 4:30 p.m. on August 19. The final match between the U23 women's team of Australia and Myanmar will take place at 7:30 p.m. on the same day.
