Propaganda work is focused

Energy plays an important role in economic growth and environmental protection. Using energy economically and efficiently has been considered one of the important pillars to ensure energy security as well as help the energy sector develop sustainably. The forum was organized to respond to the energy saving campaign, towards the successful implementation of the Government's National Target Program on using energy economically and efficiently.

In his opening speech, Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi - Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association said that, affirming its role, position and making many contributions to the development of the energy sector, in recent times, the press has accurately, promptly and effectively reflected the following contents: Propagating and organizing the implementation of the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws on economical and efficient use of energy; highlighting examples of collectives and individuals who have well implemented this policy, criticizing wasteful manifestations.

According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi, there have been many press works focusing on raising public awareness about using energy economically and efficiently; reducing energy consumption in industries and economic sectors; encouraging energy saving to become a regular activity for key energy-using establishments and key economic sectors that consume a lot of energy, towards the goal of green growth and sustainable development.

"Reporters nationwide, with many new topics, detailed highly creative energy saving issues and solutions, attracting readers, contributing to creating positive changes in the awareness of people, businesses, and state agencies in using and saving energy," said Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi.

To enhance the role of the press in promoting the use of energy economically and efficiently, Dr. Nguyen Minh Phong - former Deputy Director, Deputy Head of the Theoretical Propaganda Department, Secretary of the Scientific and Professional Council of Nhan Dan Newspaper said that it is necessary to pay attention to developing plans, campaigns and propaganda programs according to the scale, target, time and specific content for each press agency and the entire national press system with key content, topics, large-volume columns, regularly, with appropriate and diverse forms of propaganda.

"Propaganda forms need to be diversified and effectively coordinated with different types and genres of press works. Modern press genres should be used more, and information technology achievements should be applied to press activities. Propaganda work needs to be concretized with detailed content, closer and more realistic to people and businesses, conveyed in a humorous, vivid, easy-to-remember, easy-to-understand, easy-to-follow way," Dr. Nguyen Minh Phong noted.

At the Forum, representatives of press agencies, managers, businesses, and economic experts exchanged and discussed the current situation and development potential of the energy industry.

According to Dr. Nguyen Minh Phong, the annual organization of writing competitions and awarding of national and other levels of awards on energy saving and efficiency should be given more importance. Through the competitions, it will contribute to promoting and encouraging enterprises to implement advanced management and technology solutions in production, bringing to market products with outstanding technical features and high energy efficiency. At the same time, it will recognize and honor typical models and solutions for energy saving and efficiency in production and social consumption.

The press always accompanies and is a bridge in the green growth process.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Su - Deputy General Director of VNA, using energy economically and efficiently and developing green and sustainable energy is always the top concern of all countries in the world, including Vietnam.

In that common effort, with its functions and tasks, VNA has been and will continue to actively contribute to information and propaganda to improve the efficiency of using and developing sustainable energy.

According to preliminary statistics, since the beginning of the year, VNA has published tens of thousands of news, articles, photos, graphics, etc., actively promoting energy saving and developing green and sustainable energy. Many news and articles on energy saving, switching to clean energy, developing renewable energy, etc. have achieved high access rates and have been used by many domestic and foreign press agencies.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Su - Deputy General Director of VNA affirmed that as the official mouthpiece of the State, VNA always focuses on disseminating the guidelines, policies, laws, and regulations of the Party and State on energy management, use, and development.

"In particular, with a network of more than 30 overseas offices, VNA has paid attention to exploiting and reflecting information related to the experiences and measures of countries around the world in the issue of saving electricity, improving energy efficiency, and developing green and sustainable energy," Ms. Nguyen Thi Su emphasized.

In the role of the local Party newspaper, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Nghe An Newspaper shared that, identifying the importance of energy saving, over the years, Nghe An Newspaper has had many articles promoting this field, in which the main contributors are the two economic and current affairs departments.

The propaganda process was coordinated with the Energy Conservation Center, Nghe An Department of Industry and Trade, and Nghe An Electricity. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong said that the newspaper promptly published news and articles related to electricity saving work, electricity saving campaigns between the electricity industry and schools and districts. Many articles have deeply exploited experiences, proposed specific mechanisms and solutions to encourage many different electricity users to join hands in saving electricity, thereby replicating effective energy saving models and solutions.

"Through propaganda on printed and electronic publications, people's awareness and responsibility for using energy economically and efficiently have been raised, and specific actions have been taken in purchasing, using, and operating energy-efficient vehicles and equipment," informed Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong.

Voice of Vietnam Radio, as a national radio station, plays an extremely important role in promoting energy saving.

According to Dr. Dong Manh Hung, Head of the Editorial Secretariat of the Voice of Vietnam, in order to promote effective energy use, it is necessary to identify short-term and long-term goals. "In my opinion, the immediate goal is to provide knowledge and skills to the people. Specifically, propaganda agencies must help people understand the potential of energy saving in Vietnam. What are the policies of our Party and State in promoting effective energy use and energy saving?

For example, in answering the question "What is the potential for energy saving in Vietnam?", press agencies need to promote so that people can clearly see that according to the calculations of the National Target Program on economical and efficient use of energy (Ministry of Industry and Trade), the potential for energy saving in Vietnam is very large," Dr. Dong Manh Hung gave an example.

The forum is a practical activity that contributes to raising awareness of the role, responsibility and benefits of people and businesses in using energy efficiently.

Dr. Dong Manh Hung emphasized that the press and media agencies must affirm that along with the development process, Vietnam has soon attached importance to the use of energy economically and efficiently, considering energy saving an important content in Vietnam's energy development policy.

Regarding the long-term goal of propaganda, according to Dr. Dong Manh Hung, the press needs to inform how policies and strategies on efficient energy use and energy saving are implemented and put into practice. To do so, the media must have specific solutions to encourage the response and active participation of all electricity customers nationwide, and how to raise awareness of electricity saving in the community, so that "Electricity saving - becomes a habit".

"In particular, in my opinion, training and coaching to raise awareness, skills, and provide knowledge for the team of cadres and reporters specializing in writing about the electricity industry is very necessary. Only when this team has enough awareness and skills can there be products that meet both content and form to serve the work of promoting energy saving" , Dr. Dong Manh Hung commented.

At the Forum, the opinions of experts as well as leaders of press agencies all emphasized the need for each press agency to produce specialized pages and radio and television programs to promote energy saving more widely. It is necessary to carefully study the target audience to have effective and vivid forms of propaganda.

Opinions also emphasized that currently, new media, especially digital platforms, are attracting the attention of audiences, including young audiences, so press agencies need to research appropriate energy-saving propaganda content and forms to increase the load on these platforms.
