At the age of over 80, poet Nguyen Khoa Diem still follows the development of journalism today.

In the past, journalism was easier to get into the hearts of readers. Nowadays, in the context of multi-dimensional and complex information, readers are easily confused and lose trust. Today's news can contradict tomorrow's news, today's news says one thing, tomorrow it's different, making building trust difficult.

Therefore, it is necessary to have reputable press centers and agencies that are capable of controlling the quality and source of information. A newspaper that wants to maintain trust must provide information quickly, accurately, objectively and with verification. In terms of presentation, in the present era, what readers need is not lengthy articles, but clear, concise, accurate and sharp information.

Under pressure from social networks with a huge amount of information, the mainstream press needs to affirm its role. That is to become a place to provide reliable, in-depth, analytical and leading information. In the context of information explosion, there is too much toxic content infiltrating life, the press needs to maintain a clear point of view, have courage and independent thinking. At that time, the press will become a sharp weapon in the work of protecting and developing society.

Readers today are all knowledgeable, different from the past, so they always demand higher quality content and presentation. Journalists must understand readers, know what they need, what they are interested in; write correctly and accurately, then they can attract and maintain trust. What journalists need to know, readers also need to know and vice versa. When they understand what readers want, journalism can truly develop its value.

The press not only reports news, but is also a tool to influence the whole society. When the information provided by journalists has real value, it has the power to spread and have a profound impact. Correct perception, when reaching a certain level, will lead to material changes and changes in social behavior. Therefore, the press needs to promote its role of forecasting, being ahead of the times, detecting and analyzing problems early; thereby stimulating discussion and effectively guiding public opinion.

For example, in the current context where the private economy plays an increasingly important role and is given priority for development, the press needs to clarify both positive contributions and negative phenomena. Incidents that violate the law, business ethics, and affect society such as fake drugs, fake food, etc. also need to be reported. The press not only reports but also analyzes, comments, evaluates, and summarizes to contribute to orienting and developing the private economy in a more sustainable, responsible, and standardized direction.

Nowadays, the language of journalism is somewhat more limited than before. Many articles lack flexibility and depth of language and have not really contributed to improving the language level of society. Meanwhile, the old generation of journalists wrote very richly and creatively thanks to individualized thinking and subtle feelings. Therefore, the language of journalism was a part of cultural life and had great influence. Although written very concisely, it still has to ensure sharpness and accuracy. That said, today's journalism needs to improve the richness of language; it is necessary to define more clearly that journalism is also a channelfor educating the aesthetic of language and thinking for society.

Journalism in this era is not easy, but if the press knows how to promote the power of intelligence and writing; knows how to stick with the interests of society, it will still maintain its position, even enhance its role in orienting, improving and developing the country. The press needs to expand information, increase criticism, adjust and contribute to building a healthier society.
