Taking advantage of crowded places, the "blue beard" pretended to fall asleep or used the excuse that there were no more seats on the bus to approach the female student and then "touched" her.

Many female students encounter bad guys and perverts while traveling by bus.

"Bluebeard" rampant

On forums, many young people say that "perverts" and "pedophiles" are becoming more and more rampant. Not only do they grope and "touch" girls, many also "show off" their goods at bus stops, movie theaters, supermarkets... The "groping" trick is not new, but most girls choose to stay silent and do not dare to report it.

"I was so scared that I couldn't speak, I was sweating profusely, I didn't know what to do, my mind was blank. At that time, I just waited for the bus to stop and ran away as fast as I could. It took me a few weeks before I dared to take the bus again" - MV, a student at Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry, recounted.

TQ, a student at the University of Natural Sciences - VNU-HCM, said he had encountered the "pervert" three times on the bus. Fortunately, Q. had someone to rescue him all three times.

Psychologist Dang Hoang An said that a stranger intentionally touching another person's body without consent is a serious violation of privacy, causing psychological trauma to the victim.

Cut off the "pervert"

Faced with increasing threats, MSc. Hoang An has suggested effective ways to handle situations, helping women protect themselves.

First, when you discover that someone is intentionally touching your body, you should try to stay calm. Being afraid will make the pervert feel more pleased and interested in his actions. Instead, you can look straight at the subject with a determined, warning gaze.

The female should quickly move away from the area, shake her head to show her disapproval to stop the pervert's attack, and speak loudly to get everyone's attention: "What are you doing so unsightly? Get out of the way!"; try to move closer to other people, especially women, to signal for help.

If you cannot move, you can pretend to look at your phone, look out the window, or pretend not to notice the other person's behavior. You should use a bag, jacket, or anything to block your view and reduce the other person's attention.

Women should try to report the incident immediately to the bus conductor, driver or responsible people. Keep evidence (if possible) such as photos, videos or contact information of witnesses. In addition, it is necessary to share information about these behaviors to warn friends and the community to be more vigilant.

Female students need to equip themselves with self-protection skills when traveling on buses and in public places.

According to experts, this incident is a serious reminder of the need to strengthen safety measures for women and girls on public transport. Authorities need to take more drastic measures to prevent and strictly handle harassment, ensuring a safe travel environment for everyone.
