Nhan Dan Online Newspaper celebrates 25th anniversary

Nhan Dan Online Newspaper was officially launched to readers on June 21, 1998, and was the first electronic newspaper in Vietnam to connect to the Internet. The newspaper focuses on updating current news in all fields of activities in the country, in the region and in the world , and disseminating the policies of the Party and the State of Vietnam in the process of innovation and national construction, and global integration.

Over the past 25 years, along with the growth of the Vietnamese-language Nhan Dan and the birth and development of the English, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish Nhan Dan, the Nhan Dan has carried out important tasks, being the official information channel to propagate and popularize the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, fully reflecting all aspects of the country's social life, overseas Vietnamese as well as providing full information on the world situation.

In recent years, Nhan Dan e-newspaper has promoted digital transformation, with many forms of innovation and creativity in both content and form, developing data journalism, in-depth journalism, increasing the spread of the Party newspaper in cyberspace. Nhan Dan e-newspaper participates in building a digital transformation project, building a converged newsroom.

Speaking at the ceremony, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper Le Quoc Minh highly appreciated the efforts of the staff and reporters of Nhan Dan Newspaper, especially the collective of the People's Electronic Department, who have overcome difficulties and challenges to achieve achievements in recent times.

According to comrade Le Quoc Minh, from a relatively "static" newspaper with a rudimentary structure, Nhan Dan Electronic is now a website in 6 languages, updated 24 hours a day, continuously.

Nhan Dan e-newspaper also builds a basic platform to integrate all the content of Nhan Dan newspaper onto the internet, including daily printed newspapers, Weekend, Monthly, Today and Radio Nhan Dan publications, etc. with rich column content, massive data, and a continuously improved interface to become closer to readers.

“In recent times, the publications of Nhan Dan Electronic have continuously changed both in form and content, from changing the interface, applying new tools, continuously improving the publishing forms and organizing many in-depth and useful contents, aiming to serve readers in the most effective way”, Comrade Le Quoc Minh emphasized.

Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh said that in the current context, publishing information on electronic newspapers as well as on Internet platforms is both a big challenge and an opportunity. Nhan Dan Electronic needs to know how to take advantage of its strengths to reach readers in all geographical areas, groups, and ages as quickly and directly as possible.

Looking back on the 25-year journey of building and growing the People's Electronic Newspaper, journalist Nguyen Ngoc Thanh - Head of the People's Electronic Newspaper Board shared that in recent times, the People's Electronic Newspaper has had breakthrough innovations in speed, content quality, and presentation format; strongly applied technology to journalism activities; promoted news distribution on social networking platforms, following the orientation "People's Newspaper must reach the people".

Nhan Dan Electronic is one of the pioneers in digital transformation and multi-platform strategy. In July 2022, Nhan Dan Electronic changed the interface of Vietnamese publications and then foreign language publications.

The interface and CMS system converge the characteristics of modern journalism, allowing the presentation of data journalism, multimedia and in-depth content. After its launch, the new interface received high praise from readers and colleagues.

However, journalist Nguyen Ngoc Thanh pointed out that in the context of current press development, what Nhan Dan e-newspaper has achieved is still only the initial results. The road ahead is still full of challenges and difficulties.

“To keep up with the trends and rapid changes in technology, the needs of readers, and the trends of modern journalism, we realize that we need to make more efforts and continuously innovate to fulfill our tasks and meet the expectations of the public and readers, and better serve the interests of the people and the country,” said journalist Nguyen Ngoc Thanh.
