Press Trust of India (PTI) was impressed by the image of drivers wearing bright orange uniforms, riding vintage Vespas neatly parked in front of the hotel gate at dusk waiting for guests. Exploring Ho Chi Minh City by motorbike, visitors can comfortably watch the bustling streets and clearly feel the vibrant nightlife here.
A representative of a local travel company specializing in vintage Vespa tours in Ho Chi Minh City told PTI that during the 3-4 hour tour, visitors have the opportunity to experience street food, drink draft beer and listen to live music performed by local artists.
The female tour guide said that riding a motorbike is the best way to explore and experience crowded cities in Southeast Asia like Ho Chi Minh City. She "has been doing this job for 3-4 years" and has noticed that foreign tourists are increasingly interested in motorbike tours. Not only in Ho Chi Minh City, the old Vespa tour is also organized in many other famous tourist destinations in Vietnam such as Hoi An and Hanoi.
Vintage Vespa tours usually take place in the evening and each tour company has its own tour program.
Typically, the journey starts in the center of District 1, taking visitors through crowded streets. On a typical tour, the first stop is a rooftop bar. Tour guides often choose bars in unobtrusive, unnoticed locations, but with open terraces, overlooking the entire city. Visitors can admire the "Pearl of the Far East" from sunset until the skyscrapers light up. Then there is the enjoyment of wine and cocktails by candlelight.
The next stop is the street food stalls or restaurants. Here visitors can enjoy traditional Vietnamese cuisine with spring rolls, shrimp and pork rice paper rolls, Western-style pancakes, and pho.
In addition to their driving responsibilities, vintage Vespa tour drivers also take care of tourists "enthusiastically", putting on and taking off helmets for tourists, chatting and introducing the beauty of the city, and suggesting dishes and drinks. According to PTI, drivers often suggest tourists enjoy "iced milk coffee", a typical Vietnamese drink.
After the meal, visitors are taken to nightclubs "hidden" in some corner of the bustling city. Here, visitors can enjoy "international music parties". The singers can be Vietnamese or energetic Filipinos. At the nightclub, visitors can drink draft beer, wine or cocktails.
PTI reported that Vietnam is becoming an emerging tourist destination for Indian tourists. A group of Indian tourists experienced a vintage Vespa tour in Ho Chi Minh City and were impressed when a local singer said "Namaste" (a popular greeting in India) to welcome them.
The Indian news agency described Ho Chi Minh City as a modern, international city that still retains many traditional values. In addition to the tour by vintage motorbike, PTI introduced tourists to visit Notre Dame Cathedral, Saigon Central Post Office, Ben Thanh Market and the War Remnants Museum to better understand the city's history.
