Protect, care for and promote children's rights

In 2024, children's work in the province will continue to be implemented systematically, synchronously and increasingly in-depth. With about 326,000 children under 16 years old, accounting for nearly 26% of the province's population, protecting, caring for and promoting children's rights is not only a regular task but also a measure of social responsibility and humanity of the political system at all levels.

Practical action

Over the past time, all levels and sectors have made continuous efforts to care for children with specific, practical and synchronous actions. From perfecting policies, improving the capacity of the team working on children, to mobilizing social resources to care for and protect children - especially vulnerable children - all have been implemented drastically and flexibly. Children in special circumstances are provided with social subsidies, visits, gifts, scholarships, heart surgery, and treatment of serious illnesses. Children under 6 years old are granted health insurance cards and receive free medical examination and treatment. Children in remote areas have access to reading culture, life skills and participate in healthy recreational activities. Many important directives have been issued by the Provincial People's Committee, notably the Plan to implement the Mental Health Care and Orphan Care Program for the period 2023 - 2030. Communication work and training on skills to prevent abuse, school violence and drowning have been widely organized, attracting the active participation of the Police force, Women's Union, Provincial Youth Union, press agencies and the whole society.

In the field of health care, the whole province has more than 128,000 children under 6 years old who are granted health insurance cards; nearly 56,000 children are examined and treated with health insurance cards. 100% of schools meet the standards of "safe schools", ensuring good conditions for comprehensive education and preventing accidents and injuries. Schools also actively implement inclusive education models, supporting children with disabilities and students in special circumstances. Recreational activities, entertainment and reading culture are organized in a variety of ways at Children's Houses, libraries, and mobile models, attracting nearly 10,000 children to participate. Models such as "Children's Rights Club", "Friendly Investigation Room" and "Children's Forum" not only create useful playgrounds but also promote children's voices, aspirations and rights to participate in related issues.

Prioritize resources, act for children's future

Aiming to build a safe, healthy and friendly living environment for all children, the Provincial People's Committee has issued a Plan to implement the Month of Action for Children in 2025, with the theme: "Prioritizing resources, completing goals for children". The event will take place from June 1 to 30, simultaneously in all localities in the province. This is an important occasion for all levels, sectors and localities to review, evaluate and strengthen policies and services for children; at the same time, mobilize the participation and contribution of the whole society in ensuring the basic rights and legitimate interests of children - the future buds of the country.

In 2025, Binh Thuan province will promote communication with many meaningful messages such as: "Acting for children today, building a bright tomorrow" or "Preventing accidents and injuries for children is ensuring children's right to life". At the same time, it emphasizes the role of families in monitoring, caring for and educating children - from early breastfeeding, age-appropriate vitamin A supplementation to teaching swimming and equipping skills to prevent and combat drowning.

The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Health to coordinate with the Provincial Youth Union and related units to carry out extensive communication; at the same time, mobilize resources to support children with disabilities, children with congenital malformations and children in special circumstances. Key activities include: Health check-ups for children under 24 months old, communication of life skills, visiting and giving gifts to poor children, mobilizing socialization to build schools, playgrounds, and libraries for children. Localities are required to organize the Action Month in a solemn and economical manner, but still ensure practicality and effectiveness. The Action Month is also a time to increase budget allocation, at the same time mobilize socialized resources - contributing to building a foundation for comprehensive development for children in terms of physical, mental, intellectual and moral aspects.

The Month of Action for Children is not only an annual event, but also a reminder of the responsibility of each family, organization and individual in cultivating the best conditions for future generations. A safe, loving and compassionate living environment is the greatest gift we can give to children – the precious seeds of the nation.
