Kien Hai is an island district with an important strategic position in terms of national defense and security, consisting of more than 23 large and small islands. This is an area that plays an outpost role in protecting the sovereignty of the southwestern sea of the Fatherland.
In the past time, with the close direction of the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee, local Party committees and authorities have concretized and promptly implemented the directives of higher levels, thereby achieving many positive results.
The local economy continues to grow; the cultural and social fields have many positive changes; national defense, security, and social order and safety are maintained stably.
During the working program, the delegation inspected many important locations such as: Bai Ngu wharf, Bai Cay Men reservoir, Cay Men beach (An Son commune); Nam Du commune reservoir; Dinh Ong Nam Hai relic, Bai Bac wharf (Lai Son commune); Kien Hai district martyrs memorial ; tourist attractions in Hon Tre commune; and visited and worked with armed forces units stationed in the area.
Speaking at the meeting, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Tien Hai highly appreciated the results that Kien Hai district has achieved.
Despite difficult geographical conditions, inconvenient transportation between islands, and many challenges facing people's lives, the locality has paid attention to improving people's lives, especially increasing their income.

Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Tien Hai emphasized the particularly important role of Kien Hai in the defense and security strategy of the province and the entire southwestern sea. Therefore, coordination between armed forces must continue to be strengthened, in order to maintain sovereignty over seas and islands and create a stable foundation for local socio-economic development.
The Provincial Party Secretary also pointed out the difficulties the district is facing such as: lack of fresh water, many communes do not have national grid electricity, and limited residential and production land.
For sustainable development, the district needs synchronous investment in infrastructure, planning, improving the quality of human resources and raising public awareness in economic development.

It is necessary to strictly prohibit littering the sea and encroaching on the marine ecosystem; areas within the marine conservation planning must be strictly managed.
At the same time, island communes must invest in appropriate waste treatment systems, instruct people on waste classification and increase the use of green means of transport.
