Participate in voluntary social insurance

For a long time, some people thought that only those who work in the state apparatus, such as officials, workers, civil servants, and soldiers, have pensions. Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhung, a housewife in Thanh Hai Ward, Phan Thiet City, Binh Thuan Province, said that she recently learned that anyone can receive a pension when they reach retirement age. Before, I thought that only officials and civil servants had pensions, and that the rest did not include factory workers in industrial parks.

Because they are not interested in the voluntary social insurance policy, although the relevant functional sector has widely disseminated it. In fact, to have a pension, cadres, workers, and civil servants working in state agencies or social organizations have participated in compulsory social insurance. Freelance workers, meaning those who do not work in any agency or organization, participate in voluntary social insurance and are also entitled to receive a pension according to the Social Insurance Law.

Specifically, Article 53 of the Law stipulates 4 beneficiaries, including self-employed workers who have participated in voluntary social insurance for 15 years or more, who are entitled to pension benefits when they reach retirement age. Voluntary social insurance is an insurance policy of the Party and the State, for the benefit of workers and people, protected by the State, implemented by the Social Insurance agency. Participate in voluntary social insurance to receive monthly pensions and health care in old age.

This means that during the period when the participant has paid but does not continue to participate, if requested, he will receive a one-time social insurance benefit calculated according to the number of years of voluntary social insurance contribution. The benefit level, each year, is calculated as follows: 1.5 months of the average monthly income for social insurance contribution for those who participated in social insurance before 2014. 2 months of the average monthly income for social insurance contribution for those who participated in social insurance from 2014 onwards. In case the voluntary social insurance contribution period is less than 1 year, the benefit level is equal to the amount paid, up to a maximum of 2 months of the average monthly income for social insurance contribution...
