Buon Ma Thuot City Police have just issued a decision to temporarily detain two suspects: Nguyen Huy Tien (born in 1990, residing in Ea Bhok commune, Cu Kuin district) and Doan Ngoc Quy (born in 1994, residing in Dur Kmal commune, Krong Ana district) to investigate the act of trading in prohibited goods.
Previously, at around 5:00 a.m. on November 27, 2023, on National Highway 14 (through Hoa Phu commune, Buon Ma Thuot city), Buon Ma Thuot City Police in coordination with the Traffic Police Department - Provincial Police discovered a car with license plate number: 47A-559.42 traveling from Dak Nong to Dak Lak province with many suspicious signs, so they requested to stop for inspection.

At that time, the car was driven by Vu Cong Trong (born in 1997, residing in Ea Na commune, Krong Ana district) carrying Nguyen Huy Tien and Doan Ngoc Quy. Upon inspection, the police discovered 3 black sacks in the trunk containing 76 boxes of explosive fireworks, with a total weight of 126.2 kg. Initially, Tien and Quy confessed that they had hired Trong as a driver to take them to Binh Phuoc province to buy fireworks and then transport them to Buon Ma Thuot city to sell for profit.

It is known that Quy had a previous suspended sentence of one month for gambling. Tien had three previous convictions for theft, with a total sentence of 14 years in prison. Tien completed his prison term two years ago. Due to needing money, Tien contacted a subject in Binh Phuoc province (identity unknown) to order fireworks. On the evening of November 26, Tien and Quy got together and planned to hire Trong to drive a car to Bu Dop district, Binh Phuoc province to buy 126.2 kg of explosive fireworks for a total of over 36 million VND. However, when they were transported to Hoa Phu commune, they were discovered and arrested by the police.
