On May 22, news from the Investigation Police Agency of Tan Chau Town ( An Giang ), this agency has just issued a decision to prosecute and temporarily detain Nguyen Van Canh (36 years old, residing in Vinh Xuong Commune, Tan Chau Town) to investigate the act of property theft. Canh is the suspect who stole nearly 500 ducks running in the fields.

According to initial investigation, around March 2023, Canh went fishing in Vinh Hoa commune, Tan Chau town. Discovering many flocks of ducks in large numbers that local people were raising for eggs in the fields but no one was watching, Canh had the idea of ​​stealing the ducks and bringing them home.

To do this, Canh secretly herded hundreds of ducks onto rural roads and then called a truck to transport them home to hide. Seeing that it was easy to steal, in the early morning of March 30, using the same trick, Canh continued to steal ducks in the above mentioned area.

Defendant Nguyen Van Canh stole nearly 500 ducks from duck farmers and brought them home.

On the morning of April 4, the owner counted and discovered that the number of ducks in the flock had decreased significantly. He suspected that the ducks had been stolen, so he reported it to the police.

Upon receiving the report, Tan Chau Town Police coordinated with Vinh Hoa Commune Police to verify and screen the suspect and determined that Nguyen Van Canh was the duck thief, so they invited him to the police station to work.

At the police station, Canh admitted his crime. Based on Canh’s testimony, the police seized evidence including 462 ducks, worth about 25 million VND, and returned them to the victim.

The above mentioned duck theft case is being further investigated and handled by the Investigation Police Agency of Tan Chau Town Police according to the provisions of law.
