After receiving the patient, the hospital's specialized functional departments closely coordinated, conducted a consultation and immediately performed hand transplant surgery for the patient.
Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, Head of the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Thai Nguyen Central Hospital, said that the case of a nearly 18-month-old patient is a rare case of severed hand. The patient's entire tendon, wrist bone, radial and ulnar nerve bundles were severed, making the surgery very complicated, the most difficult of which was the surgery to restore blood vessels and nerves. To perform the surgery, anesthesia must be ensured, and the surgeons must have high expertise and experience in microsurgery to reattach hands.
