After about two weeks, the 2023 training course on teaching Vietnamese for overseas Vietnamese teachers (OVs) closed on the afternoon of August 30 in Hanoi .

The training course, organized by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) in coordination with the Department of Continuing Education ( Ministry of Education and Training ), is one of the activities associated with community work, making positive contributions to building, consolidating and developing organizations and activities related to Vietnamese language in the Overseas Vietnamese community. Since the first time it was held in 2013, these training courses have so far attracted the participation of more than 800 Overseas Vietnamese teachers.

In his closing speech, Mr. Mai Phan Dung, Vice Chairman of the State Committee on Overseas Vietnamese, emphasized that language is a tool to convey culture, knowledge and traditions. In the context of the increasingly strong development of the Overseas Vietnamese community, the work of preserving and spreading the mother tongue has become extremely urgent and has always been given attention and importance by the Party and State of Vietnam.
Mr. Mai Phan Dung acknowledged, appreciated and expressed his respect for generations of NVNONN community who have actively volunteered to participate in preserving and spreading Vietnamese language in recent years. Assessing the training course as a comprehensive success in all aspects, Mr. Mai Phan Dung expressed his belief that the training course will help teachers improve their qualifications, thereby contributing to improving the quality of mother tongue teaching in the NVNONN community in the coming time.

As one of more than 60 NVNONN teachers participating in this year's training course, Ms. Tran Thi Hong Hanh, an overseas Vietnamese in Taiwan (China), said that she had gained useful knowledge after two weeks of training. "We are aware of our responsibility to convey that knowledge to our children abroad. Preserving the Vietnamese language means preserving the soul and cultural identity of the nation. Loving the Vietnamese language means loving Vietnamese culture and loving Vietnam. We vow to do our best to fulfill this responsibility," Ms. Hanh expressed.
Participating in this year’s training course and witnessing Vietnam’s growing development, Ms. Pham Thi Viet, an overseas Vietnamese in Thailand, shared that she is even more proud of her homeland and country. “Preserving and spreading the Vietnamese language in the overseas Vietnamese community is very important. As long as the Vietnamese language exists, the Vietnamese people will exist,” Ms. Viet emphasized.
