Located in the north of Lam Dong, on the Lam Vien plateau, Lang Biang World Biosphere Reserve is one of the four national highland biodiversity centers of Vietnam. This biosphere reserve is divided into three regions, of which the core is Bidoup - Nui Ba National Park, which is not far from the wards of Da Lat area - a major tourist center of the country.
Lang Biang World Biosphere Reserve is extremely diverse in forest resources, including tropical evergreen broadleaf forests, interspersed with temperate coniferous forests, alpine dwarf forests, moss forests, bamboo forests, grasslands, many of which are primary forests.
Also located in Lam Dong, Dak Nong Global Geopark is one of four global geoparks in Vietnam recognized by UNESCO to date. Spread over an area of 4,760 km2 in the Central - Northwest of Lam Dong on the M'Nong plateau, Dak Nong Geopark has about 65 unique geological and geomorphological heritage sites with craters, picturesque waterfalls; is a rich red land with a tropical forest ecosystem and great biodiversity.
The most unique feature of the Park here is the volcanic cave system, with a total length of about 10 km, which was recognized by the Japan Volcanic Cave Association as a Southeast Asian record for its scale. In this area, in addition to the craters and caves, you can explore places such as Nam Nung Nature Reserve, Ta Dung National Park, Dray Sap Special-Use Forest - Landscape, Yok Don National Park in the upper part of the area here.
Waiting for more activities
For many years, there have been many cultural, sports and tourism activities taking place at Lang Biang World Biosphere Reserve. At the foot of Lang Biang Mountain, there is currently a bustling tourist area with a large number of visitors. Every day, there are vehicles transporting to the top of Radar to see the panoramic view from above of the wards of Da Lat area and Dan Kia lake area.
In the villages at the foot of the mountain, there are gong teams operating in a socialized form to serve tourists; Bidoup - Nui Ba National Park also organizes trips for adventure enthusiasts to cross the forest and camp overnight.
In particular, major annual trail races take place here, such as the Dalat Ultra Trail Marathon and the Lam Dong Trail, attracting a large number of domestic and international runners.
Many activities have also been organized at Dak Nong Global Geopark in recent times.
It is time for Lam Dong province's functional sector to have a connecting solution to promote the strengths of these two special locations.
Statistics show that there are over 1,940 plant species belonging to 825 genera and 180 families in Lang Biang World Biosphere Reserve, of which 64 species are listed in the Vietnam Red Book and 34 species have high conservation value. Regarding animals, there are 89 species of mammals, 247 species of birds, 46 species of reptiles, 46 species of amphibians, 30 species of fish and 335 species of insects.
