The Royal Australian Air Force C17 transport aircraft carrying officers and staff of Level 2 Field Hospital No. 4 back to Vietnam landed at Noi Bai International Airport at nearly 10 p.m. on July 9. The welcoming ceremony for Field Hospital No. 2.4 was hosted by the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations, with the participation of representatives of leaders of agencies and units of the Ministry of National Defense , the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations, Military Hospital 103, the Military Medical Academy, etc.; representatives of the Australian Defense Attaché Office in Vietnam, and relatives and families of officers and staff of Field Hospital No. 2.4.

At the welcoming ceremony, reporting on the results of the implementation of the mission at the South Sudan Mission, Major Le Viet Anh, Deputy Director in charge of professional affairs of Field Hospital 2.4, said that over the past year, Field Hospital 2.4 has admitted and treated 1,468 patients, performed surgery on 18 patients, and safely transported 10 patients by air; successfully treated and treated many serious cases such as: Stroke, anaphylactic shock, acute pancreatitis, acute renal failure, malignant malaria, and injuries caused by complex accidents. The treatment was safe, patients were satisfied, always had a good impression and received many compliments on the sense of responsibility, thoughtful attitude, professional competence and professionalism of the hospital's medical staff.

BVDC2.4 also supports Bentiu General Hospital in providing medical examination and treatment, medical equipment, medicine and professional training, giving gifts and teaching children to play folk games, learn about Vietnamese culture...; planting hundreds of trees for schools, hospitals, villages and around the military base.

In addition, BVDC2.4 also carries out propaganda and promotion work on the culture and traditions of the nation, the good image of the country, people and the Vietnam People's Army to international friends, and at the same time creates good relationships with agencies under the Mission.

Speaking at the ceremony, Colonel Pham Manh Thang, Director of the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations, Head of the Standing Office of the Ministry of National Defense's Steering Committee for participating in UN peacekeeping operations, expressed his joy in welcoming and praising the officers and staff of Field Hospital 2.4 for their excellent performance in returning home; and emphasized that during their 1-year term at the South Sudan Mission, Field Hospital 2.4 has made many marks and good impressions in the hearts of international friends about the image of a friendly Vietnamese country and people.

On this occasion, Colonel Pham Manh Thang expressed his gratitude to the agencies and units in the Ministry of National Defense, the Australian Embassy, and the Australian Defense Attaché Office in Vietnam for proactively coordinating closely with the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations to help successfully deploy Field Hospital 2.4 and bring the hospital's officers and staff back to the country according to the set plan.

With the results achieved during its time working in South Sudan, Field Hospital 2.4 has received many visits from leaders of UN agencies, Mission commanders and unit commanders, who sent letters of commendation and thanks. Notably, Field Hospital 2.4 is the only unit to receive a certificate of merit from the Mission Commander and 63 officers and staff of the hospital received Medals for the UN Peacekeeping Career.
