Doctors suspected that the patient had a ruptured uterus, so they consulted for an ultrasound. The images showed an abnormally thin uterine wall combined with signs of abdominal pain localized to the bottom of the uterus (the site of the old fibroid removal), making the team think of a dangerous complication: uterine rupture at the site of the old surgical incision.
Immediately afterwards, the mother was transferred for emergency surgery, and a uterine rupture at the bottom was discovered, about 5 cm long, with about 500 ml of abdominal blood. The 33-week-old fetus was safely removed, weighing 1,800 grams, and was transferred to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The mother was sutured to preserve the uterus, hemodynamic control, and intensive resuscitation after surgery. Currently, the health of both mother and baby is stable.
