Tran Tuan Son excellently conquered 8.0 IELTS when he was an 8th grade student

With the knowledge gained daily from lectures, through the process of self-study and great efforts in the months near the exam, Tuan Son achieved unexpected results with the following component scores: Listening 9.0, Reading 8.5, Speaking 8.0 and Writing 7.0. "Thanks to my mother's guidance, I have learned and loved English since I was young. I also learned about IELTS quite early as well as the benefits and opportunities that this certificate brings. Therefore, I focused on studying and trying my best", Tuan Son confided. From his experience, Tuan Son said that although the time to study for the IELTS exam was very short, he had a long journey of learning English before that, not just a day or two. He shared: "If you want to learn English, don't study in the usual way, but get used to it, watch foreign videos and listen to people speak, at some point it will sink into your head, you will be able to speak the way they do". Growing up with English "surrounding him", Tuan Son was exposed to the language through listening to music, watching movies, reading newspapers, playing games, and participating in debates. Through hard study and daily practice, the two skills of Listening and Reading were not "difficult" for the 8th grader. As for the Writing section, Tuan Son assessed this as a "difficult" skill, which is not his strength, so it is always focused on when reviewing. Therefore, in order to "conquer", in addition to cultivating and reading a lot to enrich the content of the writing, learners "need to get used to the correct writing style according to IELTS, not writing in the style of everyday texting", he shared. In addition to the available language foundation, in order for the Speaking skill to be effective, Tuan Son used "real-life" English in daily life through communicating with friends and teachers to get used to and become fluent in speaking.

Tuan Son said: "Learning English helps me a lot, I can watch movies, play games without subtitles. In addition, I really like debating in English". English has become a bridge to bring Tuan Son new friends, not only improving his foreign language skills, but also helping him learn life skills and understand more about the cultural traditions of many countries such as France, Japan... through conversations. According to Tuan Son, the most difficult thing about learning a language is overcoming "laziness", so you need to focus, put your heart and passion into it, Tuan Son always reminds himself "When you want to give up, just think that this is a place where many people give up, but you, if you continue, you will overcome those people".

Besides his "love" for English, Tuan Son (2nd, left) is also a talented martial artist.

Not only good at English, the Asian School student also has an endless passion for sports, especially martial arts, basketball, and soccer. This is also the foundation that helps him expand his circle of friends, improve his health, and train his sense of responsibility. Thanks to his efforts and constant learning, Tuan Son has reaped many "sweet fruits" for his achievements: Scholarship from the Talent Seeking Contest 2019-2020, 2 consecutive years of winning First Prize in Round 1 of the Bebras Computational Thinking Challenge, Silver Medal at the Ho Chi Minh City Student Karate Championship... and many awards in basketball, soccer, and other English debate competitions. "In the 8 years I have studied at Asian School, the school has always helped me improve my English and given me the opportunity to meet very good friends. This is the motivation for me to strive and try. Teachers from many countries have also helped me a lot in studying and practicing my language skills," Tuan Son expressed.
