Secretary of the Central Youth Union Nguyen Minh Triet: Further spreading the sovereignty of the Fatherland's seas and islands among students

Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên06/06/2023

On the afternoon of June 5, the cruise "Students with the sea and islands of the Fatherland" docked at Cat Lai port (HCMC) after 7 days to Truong Sa. This is a very special cruise as it is the first time the ship of the Student Association with the aspiration to welcome the 11th National Congress of the Vietnam Student Association has been brought to Truong Sa archipelago.

Thanh Nien reporter interviewed Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet , Secretary of the Central Youth Union, President of the Central Vietnam Student Association, Deputy Head of the delegation, about this special voyage right on the Student Association ship before the end of the voyage.

Important materials for the Vietnam Student Association Congress

What is the meaning of the voyage "Students with the sea and islands of the Fatherland", sir?

This journey has many meanings. Firstly, the Student Association is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the journey "Students with the sea and islands of the Fatherland", this is also a program that the Central Association and the Association's chapters are very persistent in implementing. Every year, there are trips at the Central level as well as from provinces and schools to the outpost islands for students to volunteer and gain practical experience. This time is very special because we come to Truong Sa.

This year is also the year of the 11th National Congress of the Vietnam Student Association. Experiencing the real life of the soldiers and civilians on the island is also a very important material for the congress to discuss orientations on volunteer work, further developing the journey "Students with the sea and islands of the Fatherland".

For students, going abroad is not only to learn but also to have better practical experience in career orientation and starting a business after graduation; to apply the knowledge learned at school into practice, especially in the sea and island areas of the Fatherland.

When there are trips like this, students feel more secure when they see that the lives of the soldiers and civilians on the island are improving day by day. From the trip, we learned a very good news that 100% of the demand for vegetables on the islands has been basically met. This means that we are maintaining a very natural, normal life on the island like on the mainland. This is something that students need to know to spread the message that our Fatherland's sovereignty is increasingly consolidated and strengthened.

If I could, I would like all students to at least once visit Truong Sa, to the border areas of the Fatherland, the border areas, the islands to be equipped, to have practical experience and this is also a type of knowledge that students need to have in their learning process.

Beliefs are nurtured

According to you, this cruise is also an environment for students to practice and strive to become "5 Good Students". So how did the students achieve "5 Goods" through the trip, sir?

The criteria of "5 Good Students" were also integrated into activities throughout the voyage. For example, the criterion of "Good Study" was demonstrated in the creative works of students during the trip. Regarding the criterion of "Good Volunteer", students had some contributions and mobilized to share with the people and officers and soldiers on the island. Regarding "Good Physical Strength", students participated in the " For Beloved Truong Sa " running race, played soccer with officers and soldiers on the island to see that physical strength is very important in being ready to fight to protect the Fatherland, as well as overcoming the harsh weather on the island. Regarding the criterion of "Good Integration", the students on the voyage tried very hard to participate. And after this voyage, the students will also be the ones to promote our sovereignty over the sea and islands in the host countries. Regarding the criterion of "Good Morality", the students who participated in the journey were excellent students and were selected from the schools.

During the activities throughout the voyage, we also incorporated each criterion of "5 Good Students" into the trip in a very gentle and skillful way for students to experience.

The voyage took place in complicated weather conditions, but achieved many good results and left many emotions for each delegate. How do you feel about this voyage, sir?

I think this feeling is not only mine but also the common feeling of all delegates in the delegation, when we pass through the island points, see our country has remote but very beautiful lands, with a lot of potential. We see the color of water, the color of the sea, the color of the sky, the square-shaped banyan bushes, the storms and the constructions on the island..., we are very proud. We also have activities to commemorate the feats and sacrifices of our fathers and brothers, the naval officers and soldiers, we are proud of our traditional history, proud of the potential and beauty of our country in the sacred sea and islands.

We are also very confident in two aspects. One is that when meeting the officers, soldiers, people, children and forces on the island, they are all prepared, have a very strong mentality in the face of storms, pressures and challenges regarding sovereignty. So we feel very peaceful and confident. Two is that for students from many regions, different fields of study and ages, but through this, they all share the belief that they will strive to study, contribute to the development of the country in general and the sustainable development of Truong Sa in particular...

As when we came to DK1 Platform , standing close together but only able to see each other briefly, we could imagine what the upcoming storm season would be like. There are still difficulties, challenges, and problems that the 200 student delegates this time and even more than 2 million students who have not had the opportunity to go to Truong Sa still have to worry about and think about to find solutions. But we are happy that our goals are no longer personal goals, but common goals towards the Fatherland, the homeland.

QUEEN

Students will be equipped with big goals.

Our journey brings to the island the love and affection from the mainland. So when we return, what will the students bring back for themselves, sir?

I think students will also bring back confidence, pride, gratitude and more importantly, greater determination. Students will also have a better awareness of self-improvement, because the officers, soldiers and people on the island are examples of overcoming difficulties to complete tasks, including the noble task of maintaining the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland. Through this, students will be equipped with greater determination and goals. Maybe somewhere in daily life, the pressure of studying, applying for a job, the pressure of making ends meet... has not given them the opportunity to think about greater things.

The journey "Students with the sea and islands of the Fatherland" will continue for the following years, right?

This is also a major policy that in the last two terms, the Student Association has identified "Students with the sea and islands of the Fatherland" as a content that must continue to be invested in. If possible, I want all students to at least once visit Truong Sa, to the border areas of the Fatherland, the border areas, the islands to be equipped, to have practical experience, and this is also a type of knowledge that students need to have in their learning process.

We also hope that students will see this as not just a trip for knowledge, but also to think about and apply their knowledge, if appropriate, to develop the marine and island economy and protect our sovereignty. We hope that research projects, proposals and proposals by students themselves that originate from trips like this will be successful, that is what we really want.

For current students and future generations, I think your love for your homeland will never change but will only grow more. Therefore, sovereignty over the sea and islands is always a concern of students, and since it is a concern, the Student Union will be your companion. Through this trip, the results achieved are also a very important basis for us to discuss at the congress an upcoming strategy of the Student Union for the sea and islands of the Fatherland.
