BAC GIANG - On the afternoon of August 12, comrade Duong Van Thai, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation chaired a working session with scientists and health sector managers from Bac Giang who are working in Hanoi.

Improved quality of medical examination and treatment

At the meeting, the representative of the Department of Health said that in recent years, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee have regularly paid attention to leadership, direction, and allocated resources for the work of protecting, caring for, and improving people's health. The health system has been gradually strengthened, and many dangerous epidemics have been controlled and pushed back. Health care services are increasingly diverse; the quality of medical examination, treatment, and disease prevention services for people has been constantly improved.

The medical facilities are invested in, gradually improved and synchronized. The newly built works are modern, in accordance with new design standards, aiming at patient satisfaction. Many modern equipments are invested such as 1.5 Tesla magnetic resonance imaging system, DSA digital subtraction angiography system; in vitro fertilization system; radiotherapy accelerator system... basically meeting the requirements in diagnosis and treatment.

Every year, the province has nearly 4 million people receiving medical examination and treatment, including about 300,000 inpatients and 54,000 surgeries. The rate of technical categories performed according to the level of the provincial hospitals and district health centers is 77%, and at the commune level is 57%. Of which, the provincial level performs 15% of the techniques beyond the level, and the district level has 8% of the techniques beyond the level. The cost of health insurance-covered medical examination and treatment is about 1.5 trillion VND per year.

On this occasion, the province proposed that scientists and health sector managers from Bac Giang in Hanoi continue to pay attention to cooperation and investment in building high-quality medical facilities; deploying specialized techniques in the province. Create conditions for training and fostering leading specialists, specialized specialists, and management work for health workers in the province. Coordinate and support the provincial health sector in proposing, building and implementing scientific research topics in the health sector.

Investing in facilities, policies to "retain" high-quality human resources

At the meeting, delegates expressed their joy at seeing the province changing and developing more and more. With the attention of provincial leaders, scientists and managers are ready to support the provincial health sector in the best spirit. At the same time, they suggested that in the coming time, the province pay attention to researching the establishment of a stroke center, a respiratory center, a specialized management center, and exchanging training programs and experts. At the same time, pay attention to training a team of nurses and caregivers; improve scientific research topics in the medical field. Increase investment in facilities, build green, clean and beautiful hospitals; improve the quality and service attitude of the medical team and doctors. Pay attention to developing medicinal plants, improving the quality of traditional medicine in the locality.

Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Danh Cuong, Director of the Central Obstetrics Hospital, said that the number of midwives in the province is still too small. To improve the quality of maternal and child health care, the province needs to have a plan to train and supplement this team. He also suggested that the Bac Giang Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital should further promote the application of modern medical treatment regimens in professional activities. Bac Giang needs to have a large-scale screening campaign for breast cancer and cervical cancer to screen cases and improve treatment effectiveness.

Regarding human resources in the medical sector, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Tuan, Director of the Institute of Mental Health (Bach Mai Hospital) said that the number of masters and specialist doctors in the province is still small compared to the population size. The province needs to have a plan to increase training, improve the expertise and skills of the team to meet the increasing demand for medical examination and treatment of the people. Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Hoang Long, Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Training (Ministry of Health) said that Bac Giang needs to have policies and mechanisms to attract and retain talent. Increase investment in facilities and equipment so that doctors can practice and develop their knowledge after training. The Department of Health advises the provincial leaders to develop a master plan to balance primary health care and specialized health care, clearly defining the work and roadmap to ensure effective implementation.

Speaking at the meeting, comrade Duong Van Thai thanked and accepted the opinions of scientists, leaders and managers of the health sector from Bac Giang. He emphasized that Bac Giang is a mountainous province with many difficulties, but in recent years it has seen strong growth. Since the beginning of the 2020-2025 term, the province has spent more than 2 trillion VND investing in health units.
