VHO- Recently, the Department of Orthopedic Surgery (Hospital E) has just successfully provided emergency care and surgery for a 3-year-old boy in Nghia Do, Cau Giay, Hanoi who was stabbed in the heel with a sharp knife, cutting a long and deep section, and severing the tendons in his leg. The boy's family said that the father used the knife to peel fruit, but did not put it away but left it on the floor, causing the child who was playing nearby to "kick" it, causing an extremely dangerous accident.

The child had his leg tendon severed because an adult left a knife lying around.
Dr. Kieu Quoc Hien, Head of the Department of Orthopedic Trauma Surgery, said: The child was admitted to the hospital with a deep cut to the bone and a lot of bleeding, and was in a state of panic. After taking X-rays, X-rays, and tests, the doctors decided to perform emergency surgery to treat the child's injury. Although the child's health was stable after the surgery, in order to move, the child had to do a long and painful post-operative rehabilitation. While the child is still very young, coordination is not easy, so rehabilitation may take longer.
Another case was also treated by doctors from the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine (Hospital E) and performed surgery to repair and reattach tendons in the hand of a 17-year-old girl in Co Nhue 2, Bac Tu Liem District, Hanoi, who had her hand cut by a multi-purpose blender. The patient's family said that the girl had just bought the blender and was installing it for use. While the machine was still plugged in, the girl put her hand into the blender, the sharp blade of the blender cut 7 wounds from the wrist to the dorsum of the thumb and the inner index finger of her right hand. The wounds were wide, many tendons were severed, including the tendon of the extensor pollicis longus, which is a very important tendon that can directly affect the girl's finger movement later on.
To prevent accidents and injuries in daily life, doctors recommend that parents pay attention to situations that can pose risks to children such as sharp knives, glass objects, round ball inflammation, etc.; risk factors that cause burns such as electrical outlets, boiling water kettles, etc. must be kept out of reach of children. Children under 18 years old should not be allowed to play with or use multi-function blenders or blenders because the cutting blades in these types of products are very dangerous. For adults, before using the machine or cleaning the machine, install the machine, cut off the power source to avoid unfortunate consequences as above.
