Through the review, the province's border area currently has a total of 2,331 houses (811 houses have been completed, 1,289 houses are under construction), of which the provincial Border Guard has mobilized 687 officers and soldiers of the Border Guard to participate in 1,193 working days to help people build 174 houses. Thereby, contributing to strengthening the people's hearts, maintaining territorial sovereignty and national border security.
In order to meet the progress of handing over houses to the people as directed by the Provincial People's Committee before June 25, 2025, the Provincial Border Guard sent hundreds of officers and soldiers directly to the area to carry out "3 sticking, 4 together" with the people to build and repair hundreds of solid and spacious houses for poor households and ethnic minorities in the border areas of the Fatherland.
Lieutenant Colonel Truong Minh Duc said: “In the process of eliminating temporary houses in the border area, we encountered certain difficulties such as: households are located far from the centers, roads are inconvenient, transporting materials to places is complicated, even border guards have to carry each bag of cement, each brick, each plank to build the works, there is a lack of workers to do the construction due to high demand”.
With the goal of stabilizing the lives of the people, immediately after receiving the task, the functional units of the Provincial Border Guard did not care about Saturdays or Sundays, from soldiers to officers, divided into groups to go to the area, together with representatives of all levels of government to go to each house to check, make a list, take photos with the most urgent spirit. The result was that nearly a week later, nearly 2,500 poor household records were reported to the Provincial Border Guard Command for screening, and it was decided to take 2,331 houses for support.
Officers and soldiers of Si Lo Lau Border Guard Station build houses to help people in the area under their charge.
Following the comrades in the Party Committee and the Provincial Border Guard Command, we visited the family of Phu Mo Do (a Red Dao ethnic group in Moi village, Si Lo Lau commune) who is in particularly difficult circumstances, living in a long-built rammed earth house that has now seriously deteriorated, not providing protection from the sun and rain, and is unsafe during the stormy season. Understanding Do's situation, officers and soldiers of Si Lo Lau Border Guard Station, Lai Chau Border Guard, and functional forces of the commune directly assisted the family in dismantling the house, transporting materials, digging the foundation, and building the house.
Mr. Do shared: “When I built the house, the border guards directly helped me build and transport materials, so in just 3 weeks the house was almost completed. I am very grateful to the border guards.”
Not only Mr. Do's family, but also some families in difficult circumstances, with few people needing support in terms of working days, the local government mobilized cadres, civil servants and militia, contributing with the local government and Border Guard Station to maintain security, order and national border sovereignty.
Having been attached to the area for many years, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Huy Huynh - Political Commissar of Si Lo Lau Border Post understands the area like the back of his hand. In a conversation with us, Lieutenant Colonel Huynh said: In order to carry out the movement of joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, and to implement the plan of the superiors, the unit has launched the movement and coordinated with the local authorities to check the families who need support to build houses. Up to now, we have completed 9 houses out of a total of 59 houses. During the implementation process, the unit organized forces to support working days to help people complete their houses soon...
To effectively implement the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, Si Lo Lau Border Guard Station has done a good job of propaganda, mobilization, and understanding the circumstances of each household to have measures to advise and participate in effective implementation.
Mr. Phu Cha Po - Chairman of Si Lo Lau Commune People's Committee said: Our commune was assigned by Phong Tho District People's Committee to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for 59 households, but so far we have only received advance funding and handed over to 47 households. We have reported to the Provincial Border Guard Command to request funding from companies, businesses and volunteers across the country for the remaining 12 households.
Through the program of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, it is once again affirmed that the Party, the Government , especially the Border Guard force always care about the poor and ethnic minorities in remote and border areas. The concrete actions of the green-uniformed soldiers help strengthen the relationship between the army and the people.
