Pig price today August 15
*Pig price in the North:
Pig prices in the North remained stable this morning, purchased at around 64,000 - 66,000 VND/kg.
Provinces and cities such as Bac Giang, Hung Yen, Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, Hanoi and Tuyen Quang still recorded the highest price in the region at 66,000 VND/kg.
Meanwhile, Lao Cai and Ninh Binh provinces continue to maintain the lowest price in the region at 64,000 VND/kg.
Live pigs in other localities are still purchased at 65,000 VND/kg.
Pig price in Central Highlands
Pig prices in the Central Highlands region this morning had mixed adjustments between localities, fluctuating between 61,000 - 64,000 VND/kg.
Quang Nam, Quang Ngai and Khanh Hoa provinces recorded a slight increase of VND1,000/kg, bringing the price of live pigs to VND62,000 - 63,000/kg.
On the contrary, Lam Dong slightly reduced by 1,000 VND/kg, bringing the transaction down to 63,000 VND/kg.
The remaining localities have no change compared to yesterday.
Pig price in the South
The price of live pigs in the South this morning recorded a decrease of 1,000 VND/kg in some localities, fluctuating between 61,000 - 64,000 VND/kg.
After fluctuations, the price of live pigs in Vinh Long dropped to the lowest level in the region at 61,000 VND/kg.
The provinces of Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong and Tien Giang all traded at the same price of 62,000 VND/kg, after a decrease of 1,000 VND/kg.
With the same decrease, the price of live pigs in Tay Ninh and Hau Giang provinces simultaneously decreased to 63,000 VND/kg.
The remaining provinces and cities maintained prices unchanged from the previous day.

According to the report of the Department of Animal Husbandry, citing data from the US Department of Agriculture, in 2021, 2022 and 2023, Vietnam ranked 6th among the countries with the highest market share of pork production in the world, accounting for 2.4% (2021), 2.5% (2022) and 3% (2023) of total global pork production. Among the 10 largest pork consuming countries in the world, Vietnam ranked 6th with a pork consumption/production ratio of 105.4% (domestic pork production only meets 95% of pork consumption demand).
Pork consumption per capita in Vietnam in recent years has gradually increased, specifically: In 2021, about 30 kg of pork per person per year, in 2022, about 32 kg of pork per person per year, and in 2023, about 33.8 kg of pork per person per year.
