On the afternoon of June 10, Nguyen Chi Long competed in the second qualifying round of the Ankara 2025 Billiards World Cup taking place in Türkiye. Chi Long was the first Vietnamese player to compete on the match day of June 10, when he faced Kostas (from Greece) in the first match of Group N.
Nguyen Chi Long won the right to start, holding the white ball and starting with 3 points. However, the Vietnamese player started very slowly. After the first 8 turns, Chi Long was behind 6-11. It was not until the 9th turn that the Vietnamese player began to explode with a series of 7 points, to take the lead for the first time against his opponent 13-11.
In the 10th and 11th turns, Nguyen Chi Long did not score. But in the 12th turn, Chi Long unexpectedly scored 9 points, thereby increasing the gap with his opponent to 22-11, and at the same time bringing the match into the break.

At that time, many people thought that Nguyen Chi Long would easily reach 30 points to win against the Greek player. However, "the good movie comes at the end", Kostas had a strong acceleration in the second half by taking advantage of Chi Long's slowdown. After the break, Kostas scored steadily to shorten the gap to 15-22 and then 18-23.
Kostas was excited when he had another 7-point series in the 15th round, and was only 1 point behind Chi Long (leading 25-26). After the 17th round, the Greek player officially tied the score, 26-26.
In the 18th turn, Chi Long had 3 points, while Kostas had 2 points: 29-28. The match ended in the 19th turn when Chi Long scored the final point to reach 30. In the last turn, Kostas only scored 1 point and had to accept defeat 29-30 against the Vietnamese player.
In the decisive match for a ticket to the third qualifying round, Nguyen Chi Long will face Ali Ibraimov (Germany).
