On June 6, Mr. Dang Hung Son, Principal of Binh Phuoc Province's Boarding High School for Ethnic Minorities, confirmed that a decision had been made not to discipline teacher LTTD, who was "accused" by students of having to pay money when his phone was confiscated (violating school rules) to avoid being brought to the council for conduct review.
According to Thanh Nien reporters' investigation, on December 3, 2024, 5 grade 11 students from Binh Phuoc Province's Ethnic Minority Boarding High School signed a petition to the school's People's Inspection Board requesting clarification on the matter of their phones being confiscated by a teacher of the LTTD and being asked to pay a "ransom" to avoid being brought to the conduct review board.
According to the students' reports, when collecting money to "redeem" the phone, this teacher also informed that "he used the money to buy gifts for the teachers and administrators, so that when the students were examined, their conduct would not be lowered". The complaints were then sent by the People's Inspectorate to the Board of Directors of the Boarding School for Ethnic Minority Students in Binh Phuoc Province.

According to the school's verification results, the incident reported by the students occurred during the 2023-2024 school year and the teacher being petitioned was Ms. LTTD.
Ms. LTTD also admitted to collecting money from 5 students and 3 parents (of 3/5 students who violated the rules) for the amount of 2.3 million VND.
This female teacher also confirmed that she told the 5 students who violated the rules on using phones, "Use this money to buy gifts for the teachers and administrators and invite Mr. HHN and Ms. HT to have coffee and breakfast so that when their conduct is reviewed, their conduct will not be lowered."
Ms. D. also confirmed that after receiving the money, she did not buy gifts or do anything as she had told the students. After the incident was discovered in December 2024, Ms. D. returned 2.3 million VND to 5 students and their parents.
Speaking to Thanh Nien reporter, Mr. Dang Hung Son said that after the incident of receiving money, the school established a review board, a disciplinary board and finished handling the matter in March 2025. "Through voting, the school's disciplinary board decided not to discipline Ms. D.", Mr. Son added.
Meanwhile, some teachers at the Binh Phuoc Ethnic Minority Boarding High School said that the school’s failure to take disciplinary action against the above violation was unsatisfactory. Furthermore, Ms. LTTD’s violation had been handled for more than 2 months, but had not been widely reported to teachers in the entire school as well as to parents and students.
Similarly, the students who sent the petition said that they have not received any information from the school and hope to receive full results so that they can have an objective view of this incident because it involves a number of other teachers; the people that Ms. D. said bought gifts, invited to drink coffee, have breakfast...
