Thanh Son - a particularly disadvantaged commune has just been selected by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to coordinate with a number of units to provide free medical examinations and medicine.

Thanh Son commune of Mai Chau district ( Hoa Binh ) has a majority of ethnic minorities, of which the Thai ethnic group accounts for more than 60% and the Muong ethnic group accounts for more than 30%. Economic life still faces many difficulties.
On March 30, despite the cold and rainy weather, around 12 degrees Celsius, people still came to Thanh Son Commune Health Station early in the morning to wait for their turn to be examined and given free medicine.
More than 30 doctors and nurses from Hanoi and Hai Phong, along with nearly 100 volunteers from several universities, participated in general examinations, internal medicine, dentistry, dermatology and eye examinations... for Thanh Son residents.
It is expected that 567 people in Thanh Son commune will receive free medical examinations, medicine, and gifts on March 30.
Speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Vu Minh Ly - Deputy Director of the Center for Natural Resources and Environment Communication (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) - said that in recent times, climate change, natural disasters, and environmental pollution have caused many impacts on people's health.
"The program not only provides opportunities for free medical examination and medicine, but also educates people about disease prevention and skills, and limits the impact of climate change and environmental pollution on human health," said Mr. Ly.

Mr. Ngan Van Dien - Party Secretary and Chairman of Thanh Son Commune People's Council - said that although Thanh Son Commune is only about 15km from Mai Chau town center, it is still facing many difficulties.
"Our commune is often affected by severe natural disasters, especially severe cold spells. People are very excited to be examined, given medicine and receive gifts," said Mr. Dien.

Mr. Le Huy Hoang - Deputy Chief Inspector of Hoa Binh province - said that the program of free medical examination and medicine distribution is a very meaningful activity to take care of the health of people in difficult areas like Thanh Son.
"The program is like a gift for Thanh Son people," said Mr. Hoang.
