The Ministry of Transport requested to arrange temporary toilet stations on highways without rest stops to serve people during the peak season of April 30.
Implementing the Prime Minister 's dispatch on ensuring traffic safety during the April 30 holiday, the leaders of the Ministry of Transport requested the Vietnam Expressway Administration to preside over reviewing and arranging temporary rest stops on highways where rest stops have not been built.
In the immediate future, units will take advantage of the locations of rest stops that have been partially handed over or convenient locations along the route to build temporary parking lots and toilets, to be completed before April 27.
The Vietnam Road Administration is responsible for guiding project management boards on procedures for connecting temporary rest stops to highways and supplementing traffic safety systems.

On the occasion of April 30, the North-South Expressway from Ho Chi Minh City to Nha Trang will be connected after the Cam Lam - Vinh Hao route (through Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan ) is opened to traffic. However, on the approximately 380 km journey, there is only one stop at the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh section, Song Nhan commune, Cam My district, Dong Nai province. The remaining 327 km section from Dong Nai through Binh Thuan, Ninh Thuan to Nha Trang has no rest stop.
Similarly, the 50 km Dien Chau - Bai Vot route (via Nghe An, Ha Tinh) will connect the North-South expressway through Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An to Ha Tinh. However, there are no rest stops on the entire 206 km route.
According to the representative of the Ministry of Transport, due to limited investment capital, the North-South Expressway project phase 1 (2017-2020) was divided into investment phases with a limited 4 lanes. The rest stop project was separated into a separate project to be invested in the form of socialization instead of using budget capital.
In addition, due to the incompleteness of previous legal regulations, the implementation of investment in rest stops in the form of socialization has encountered many difficulties, and has not been able to ensure synchronous exploitation and service to people for some newly completed and put into operation expressway sections.
Project management boards are inviting bids for eight rest stops on the North-South Expressway phase 1, with contracts expected to be signed with investors in June and completed by the middle of next year.
