Minister of Public Security: Every day from now on will be Vietnam Cyber Security Day

On the afternoon of August 5 in Hanoi, the Ministry of Public Security held the first celebration of Vietnam Cyber Security Day (August 6) with the theme "Cyber security imprints and orientation in the era of national growth."

The event was organized to raise awareness of the role, significance and benefits of cyber security, promote the participation of the entire political system, synchronous actions at all levels and the participation of the entire population to ensure the effective operation of the work of ensuring national sovereignty in cyberspace, and create a culture of cyber security in the new era.

This is also an opportunity for the Ministry of Public Security, the core of which is the cyber security and high-tech crime prevention and control force, to be determined to accelerate the implementation of tasks in Resolution No. 30-NQ/TW on the National Cyber Security Strategy; Resolution No. 12-NQ/TW on promoting the building of a truly clean, strong, disciplined, elite, and modern public security force to meet the requirements and tasks in the new situation and Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation, and national digital transformation.

Cybersecurity in the new era

The first Vietnam Cyber Security Day left a strong impression when looking back at strategic milestones in ensuring cyber security.

At the event, Major General Le Xuan Minh - Director of the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention (A05 - Ministry of Public Security) said that ensuring cyber security always goes hand in hand and cannot be separated from the digital transformation process. Over the past year, the work of ensuring cyber security has achieved many outstanding achievements.

The first mark, according to Major General Le Xuan Minh, is to unify state management of cyber security on the basis of consolidating functions and tasks of ensuring network information security and ensuring network security; establishing a leadership and direction mechanism from the central to local levels.

The Ministry of Public Security has also advised the Government to submit to the National Assembly the Law on Data and the Law on Personal Data Protection, and proposed that the National Assembly Standing Committee include the amended and supplemented Law on Cyber Security in the 2025 Law and Ordinance Development Program.

The cybersecurity industry also affirmed its international cooperation in the field of cybersecurity and Vietnam's reputation and role in connecting to solve cybersecurity challenges with the signing ceremony of the Convention against Cybercrime (Hanoi Convention) in October 2025.

A highlight of the cybersecurity industry is to gradually form a people's security posture in cyberspace, promote the effectiveness of public-private cooperation through the activities of Associations, encourage businesses to participate in protecting cybersecurity; establish a National Cyber Security Incident Response and Remediation Alliance; gather prestigious KOLs with positive social influence to promote public opinion, fight against misinformation, spread digital safety skills and implement community projects, and move towards establishing an alliance of social media influencers (KOLs, KOCs).

Along with that, the responsible agencies also promote research, application of science and technology, digital transformation to serve state management of cybersecurity and create a cybersecurity ecosystem towards the mission of protecting national security and sovereignty in cyberspace and ensuring human security in the new era.

Vietnam Cyber Security Day also introduced a series of practical and meaningful events and programs in response, such as organizing a Cyber Security Drill for the Ministry of Public Security's Electronic Information Portal; launching the National Cyber Security Management System.

From August 2025, there will also be a Digital Popularization Campaign to raise public awareness of cyber security and personal data protection; the event "Personal data protection - Human security in the digital age"; the conference "KOLs with the era of national growth"; the workshop "Cyber security and information security by level for control systems in power plants - From regulations to practical implementation."

Regarding strengthening public-private cooperation, there will be a cooperation agreement on protecting cyber security and preventing and combating high-tech crimes between the Department of Cyber Security and Prevention of High-Tech Crime, Ministry of Public Security and National Payment Corporation of Vietnam (NAPAS).

Speaking at the ceremony, General Luong Tam Quang - Minister of Public Security, emphasized that the people's security posture on the Internet has been gradually built and strengthened. Vietnam's cyberspace is increasingly safe, digital sovereignty is increasingly protected. In addition to the pioneering and core role of the People's Public Security force, there are important contributions from the Ministries, Central and local levels and the active and effective support of businesses and people.

To strengthen cyber security protection, meeting the requirements of tasks in the new situation, Minister Luong Tam Quang also suggested promoting propaganda in diverse, practical and rich forms, strongly spreading the image of Vietnam's cyber security. Thereby arousing the sense of responsibility, awareness of law compliance, raising vigilance, and self-protection of each organization and individual when participating in cyberspace. So that each citizen can truly become a soldier protecting cyber safety and security, a solid fortress against the plots of sabotage by hostile and reactionary forces, and all kinds of crimes in cyberspace.

Second, continue to perfect the political and legal foundations and create clear changes in the implementation of the Party's policies and the State's laws on cyber security protection. Build a people's security posture on the basis of a solid people's heart posture in cyberspace.

Continue to advise the Party and State to perfect viewpoints, policies, and measures to firmly protect network security, meeting the requirements of tasks in the new situation. Establish a legal framework in a number of new areas such as artificial intelligence, automation, and blockchain technology, contributing to shaping and protecting national sovereignty in cyberspace.

Mobilize the active participation of the entire political system in protecting cyber security, first of all, protecting the security and safety of the information systems of ministries, branches, localities and fields in the process of developing science and technology and national digital transformation. Continue to implement solutions to effectively mobilize the participation of business unions and the entire population in protecting cyber security. Build a people's security posture in cyberspace, fight against plots to sabotage ideology, oppose the Party and State, and harm security and order.

General Luong Tam Quang also emphasized the need to improve cyber security capacity and potential, proactively prevent and be ready to effectively respond to risks and challenges from cyberspace.

Finally, General Luong Tam Quang also requested to master the cyber security industry products, focus on research and put the products into practice in all social activities. Develop a strong security industry to meet the requirements of the tasks.

"Every day from now on is Vietnam Cyber Security Day. With a strong determination to firmly protect cyber security and national sovereignty in cyberspace for a strong and prosperous Vietnam, we will firmly enter a new era of rich and powerful development of our nation," General Luong Tam Quang affirmed./.
