Aviation students do internships with "huge" salaries, many job opportunities after graduation

Speaking to reporters on August 7, Mr. Tran Anh Tuan, Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Vocational Education Association, said that this industry group currently has about 44,000 employees, but it is still not enough to meet the needs of major airports and continuous growth. In particular, when the Long Thanh International Airport project phase 1 is put into operation in 2026, the demand for human resources in this industry is increasing.

According to forecasts, by 2030, recruitment demand will increase sharply in many positions, from pilots, flight attendants, technicians to airport operations staff, security and experts in the fields of business, marketing and finance.

Dr. Tran Manh Thanh, Principal of Bach Viet Polytechnic College, said that the demand for human resources is large, but there are very few schools in the Southern region that train in related fields. Of which, Bach Viet Polytechnic College trains in both aviation transport business administration and aviation commercial services.

The school received many "orders" from units but still could not meet the demand of students.

"Unlike the 4-year university program, the aviation college programs only take 2-2.5 years. Many students have found jobs in their major during their internship with salaries of 20-25 million VND/month" - Dr. Thanh informed.

The curriculum is designed by experts with experience in the field of education, training and aviation from airlines, aviation academies, logistics institutes... meeting the requirements of the General Department of Vocational Education of Vietnam, Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, world aviation organizations such as ICAO, IATA.

For the commercial aviation services major, students must complete 700 hours of cognitive and professional internships at ground handling companies, cargo handling companies, airports and airlines.

The Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Vocational Education Association emphasized that although there are great job opportunities and attractive salaries, this is also a highly competitive field, and human resources are easily eliminated if they do not try and update their expertise and skills.

"It is necessary to update the training program according to business needs, increase practice time, focus on soft skills and specialized foreign languages. Coordinate training with businesses, airport companies, logistics, technology to create conditions for practice, access to technology and recruitment sources after graduation. In addition, students need to proactively learn more about artificial intelligence, data analysis, IoT, airport operation control programming... to keep up with the 4.0 era" - Mr. Tuan noted.
