Chinese Defense Minister visits Vietnam to attend border exchange activities

Continuing the 9th Vietnam - China Border Defense Friendship Exchange program, on the morning of April 17, Senior Lieutenant General Dong Jun, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Minister of National Defense of China, and a high-ranking delegation of the Chinese Ministry of National Defense visited Vietnam to attend activities within the framework of the Exchange.

As planned, General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense , will preside over the official welcoming ceremony for Senior Lieutenant General Dong Quan and the delegation members.

Accordingly, in Vietnam, the following activities will take place: Welcoming ceremony for the Chinese delegation; planting friendship trees; visiting Dong Dang Primary School; attending the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the inauguration of the Multi-purpose Building; visiting the Border Guard Station of Huu Nghi International Border Gate; visiting the Logistics Park of the Military Industry - Telecommunications Group; holding talks and witnessing the signing of cooperation documents at Muong Thanh Hotel.

Previously, on April 16, General Phan Van Giang and the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense successfully concluded exchange activities on the same day within the framework of the Exchange in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (China).

In China, the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense visited the Friendship Pass Tourist Area; visited the Friendship Pass Border Guard Company; witnessed the patrol teams of the two countries' navies reporting online before conducting a joint patrol; planted friendship trees; visited the smart border gate at the Friendship Pass Border Gate; visited the No. 4 Primary School of Pingxiang City; and visited the model village of Zhulian, Ningming County.

General Phan Van Giang and the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense received a warm, respectful and thoughtful welcome from the leaders of the Ministry of National Defense, local authorities and people of Pingxiang city, China.

The farewell ceremony for General Phan Van Giang and the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense was held at the Friendship Pass Border Gate in China. The Vietnam-China border defense friendship exchange is an important defense foreign affairs activity, co-organized by the two countries' Defense Ministries since 2014. Through many times of organization, the exchange program with practical and specific activities such as: Joint patrol, humanitarian medical examination and treatment, friendship tree planting, cultural and sports exchanges, school visits... has contributed to strengthening political trust, deepening defense cooperation between the two countries, building a peaceful and developed border area.

Taking place right after the State visit to Vietnam by General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping, at the time of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the 9th Vietnam - China Border Defense Friendship Exchange program is a testament to the determination of the two Parties, two States and peoples of the two countries in joining hands to foster the traditional friendship between Vietnam and China, thereby contributing to further deepening the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China.
