Domestic rice market stagnates
On October 20, 2025, domestic rice prices recorded a slight decrease in some areas, mainly in the Mekong Delta provinces. The decrease was about 50 VND/kg for some types of exported rice, while the trading market remained quite quiet. Many traders said that purchasing activities were at a low level, the amount of goods entering the market was small, causing prices to remain stable.
According to an update from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province, the prices of fresh rice of all kinds remain stable. IR 50404 rice fluctuates at 5,000–5,200 VND/kg; OM 5451 from 5,400–5,600 VND/kg; Dai Thom 8 and OM 18 are both at 5,800–6,000 VND/kg; Nang Hoa 9 from 6,000–6,200 VND/kg; OM 308 around 5,700–5,900 VND/kg.
Localities such as Dong Thap, An Giang , Vinh Long recorded a situation of "lack of traders", many fields were almost out of season, scarce supply of goods caused the market to fluctuate little. Rice prices remained stable compared to the end of last week.

Rice prices slightly decrease but the market remains stable
In the rice segment, export prices at warehouses decreased slightly by about 50 VND/kg. According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province, IR 504 rice decreased to 7,900-8,000 VND/kg, while OM 18 rice fluctuated at 8,400-8,600 VND/kg. OM 5451, OM 380 and CL 555 remained at 8,100-8,250 VND/kg. OM 380 finished rice was purchased at 8,800-9,000 VND/kg, while IR 504 finished rice was at 9,500-9,700 VND/kg.
Prices of rice by-products such as broken rice and bran have not changed much. Broken rice grade 2 is traded at 7,150-7,250 VND/kg, rice bran fluctuates at 9,000-10,000 VND/kg. Large purchasing warehouses still maintain moderate quantities of goods, with no signs of strong accumulation due to slow output.
Transactions at the market and provinces maintain the old price level.
At retail markets, rice prices remained unchanged from the weekend. Nang Nhen rice continued to be the most expensive, at around VND28,000/kg. Jasmine rice remained at VND22,000/kg; regular rice at VND13,000–15,000/kg; long-grain Thai fragrant rice at VND20,000–22,000/kg; Nang Hoa at VND21,000/kg; Taiwanese and Jasmine rice ranged from VND16,000–20,000/kg. In addition, Thai Soc rice was priced at VND20,000/kg, while Japanese rice was at VND22,000/kg.
Retailers in Can Tho, Vinh Long and Tien Giang said purchasing power remains weak, with most consumers buying small amounts for daily needs and showing no tendency to hoard due to stable prices and abundant supply.
Export rice prices remain stable, maintaining competitive position
In the export market, Vietnamese rice prices remained unchanged compared to the end of last week. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), 5% broken fragrant rice remained at 420–435 USD/ton; 100% broken rice was around 309–313 USD/ton; and Jasmine rice remained at 486–490 USD/ton.
Experts say that Vietnam’s rice export prices are still competitive compared to Thailand and India. Stable supply and high quality rice help Vietnam maintain its position as one of the three largest rice exporters in the world. However, international purchasing power in mid-October showed signs of slowing down as some partners temporarily adjusted their import plans.
