If in wartime, women are the solid rear, the hardworking and sacrificial mothers and wives; then in peacetime, they are the ones who "keep the fire", the ones who sow love, the ones who contribute significantly to educating their children to adulthood, forming the personality of a new Vietnamese person. Each prosperous, equal, progressive, and happy family is a "brick" contributing to building a strong, prosperous Vietnam.

The important role of women in every family
For thousands of years, the family has always been considered the source of all cultural, moral and humanistic values of the Vietnamese people. Through many historical changes, the Vietnamese family still maintains a strong bond of love, filial piety, loyalty and responsibility. In which, women play a central role - the one who builds the family, nurtures good values and educates the next generations.

President Ho Chi Minh once advised: “It is right to care about the family because many families together make up a society, good families make a good society, good societies make better families, the nucleus of society is the family” (1). This simple but profound saying affirms the position of the family in the development process of the nation. From there, it also shows the great role of women because they are the ones who keep the warm fire in every home. A happy family not only brings peace to each individual, but also contributes to building a stable, humane, and benevolent society.
During the period of industrialization and modernization, the Vietnamese family model has changed a lot, but the core values of affection, responsibility and morality are still preserved and promoted. Women, whether in urban or rural areas, are still the spiritual support for the family; the one who connects, reconciles, nurtures trust and bonds between generations. In cultural depth, family happiness is not only a "private home" but also a key factor ensuring the sustainable development of the country.
Vietnamese women not only "preserve" but also "create" happiness.

In today’s life, women take on many roles at the same time: loving mother, faithful wife, filial daughter, worker, leader, and contributor to society. Each of these roles requires balance, delicacy and courage - qualities that have become the inner strength of Vietnamese women through many generations.
Not only do women “preserve” but they also “create” happiness. They proactively create a healthy living environment, build a cultural lifestyle in the family, and educate their children with love and understanding. Many modern women constantly study, improve their knowledge, practice life skills, and apply technology to manage their families more effectively, creating connections between generations. A happy family is not just about “sufficiency” but also a place where all members are respected, shared, and developed personally in love.

Movements launched by the Vietnam Women's Union such as "Women actively study, work creatively, build happy families", "Build families with 5 no's, 3 clean's", or the model "Family point of warmth, equality, progress, happiness" have become widespread movements, spreading the spirit of responsibility and love in the community. Many localities have linked the criteria of happy families with the movement of building new rural areas and civilized urban areas, creating positive changes in social life.
It can be said that the role of women in building happy families is increasingly expanded and elevated. If in the past, they were seen as "custodians", now they are honored as "creators" - proactively cultivating the value of happiness, enriching the spiritual life of families and society. It is from these loving homes that society has a moral and humane foundation for sustainable development.
The role of women in building a happy, progressive, civilized family

In the process of national development, our Party and State always identify women as an important force, playing a central role in building families and developing society. The Party's resolutions, strategies and policies all aim to promote the role of women in association with building happy, progressive and civilized families.
The Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress affirmed: "Building Vietnamese women of the new era with knowledge, health, compassion, responsibility for family, society and the Fatherland". That spirit has been concretized in many action programs and national strategies, including the Vietnam Family Development Strategy to 2030, the National Strategy on Gender Equality for the 2021-2030 period and the National Target Programs on new rural construction and sustainable poverty reduction.

In particular, the movement “Building a family with 5 nos and 3 cleans” - no poverty, no lawbreakers and social evils, no gender inequality, no violation of population policy, no malnourished children; clean house, clean alley, clean kitchen - has become a bright spot in implementing the criteria of a cultural family. This movement not only contributes to improving the quality of family life but is also closely linked to the United Nations' sustainable development goals.
As the core organization in implementing, monitoring and disseminating these policies, the Vietnam Women's Union has constantly innovated its methods of operation, applied technology in propaganda, organized models of "Equal Family", "Safe House", "Happy Family Club", supported women in economic development, prevented violence and abuse. Thereby, millions of families have access to counseling services, legal support, mental and physical health care, helping women gain more confidence and skills to create sustainable happiness.

Not stopping at numbers or movements, what is more important is the formation of new awareness in society: family happiness is not only the responsibility of women, but also a common value of the whole community, jointly cultivated by the State, social organizations and each citizen. However, the role of women is still central - because they are the ones who connect, harmonize, spread love and positive values in every home.
Throughout history, Vietnamese women have always been the "fire" that warms the family and the "source of positive energy" of society. Promoting the role of women in building happy families is to contribute to strengthening the spiritual foundation of the nation, creating momentum for the sustainable development of the country.
