Questioning before the National Assembly this morning (June 20), delegate Nguyen Minh Tam (Quang Binh delegation) acknowledged that the Ministry of Education and Training has recently had solutions and many forms to deal with the problem of school violence. However, school violence from 2023 to now has many alarms, long-term consequences and this is a worrying challenge for the educational environment, affecting the younger generation both physically and mentally.

" With the mission ofthe Education sector being to eradicate violence from schools, I would like to ask the Minister when there will be no more violence in schools? Can the Minister commit to a certain time in the future? ", the delegate questioned.

Responding to questions, Minister Nguyen Kim Son said that schools are an inseparable part of society, the "wall" surrounding schools is becoming increasingly fragile, the distance between inside and outside the school is gradually being erased by the internet, social networks and modern media.

"If one day there is no more violence in schools, that will be the day adults stop fighting. Children will only look at each other with pure love," said the Minister.

However, Minister Son emphasized that society must face reality and by all means and measures must minimize, support, and control as much as possible.

The Commander of the Education sector further cited that, according to statistics, 70% of students who commit violence against others have special family circumstances that affect their psychology and behavior. Their parents are divorced, they witness domestic violence or they themselves are subjected to domestic violence. These circumstances affect their psychology, attitude, behavior and views. An important part of education is teaching ethics, personality, and determining students' attitudes and behavior. This part lies in the family, the example of adults.

"Schools are only a psychological control angle, increasing positive educational activities to limit students from falling into violence. We will do our best to fulfill this task ," the Minister pledged.

Also concerned about this issue, delegate Nang Xo Vi ( Kon Tum Delegation) cited a report from the Ministry of Education and Training emphasizing that school violence is still a worrying challenge, gradually shifting from physical violence to mental violence, especially in cyberspace.

Delegates cited the reality in mountainous areas and ethnic minority areas where this issue becomes more worrying when students lack self-protection skills, teachers hold multiple roles, and schools lack school psychologists. In addition, close coordination between families, society and schools is lacking.

" May I ask, how does the Minister assess this situation, especially in areas with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions? In the coming time, what roadmap does the Minister have to build a safe, healthy, and humane learning environment for students in areas with difficult conditions? ", Ms. Nang Xo Vi questioned.

Responding, Minister Nguyen Kim Son said that the issue of school violence in educational institutions in urban, densely populated areas and educational institutions in remote areas will be different.

" To be fair, the problem of school violence in remote schools is not as complicated as in urban areas. But the problem of school violence in cyberspace is increasingly more complicated in terms of level and nature ," Mr. Nguyen Kim Son admitted, citing that 20-25% of school violence occurs in cyberspace.

According to the Minister of Education and Training, the situation of "online bullying" tends to increase and become more complicated. This is an issue that needs to be focused on and solved.

Speaking at the debate on school violence, delegate Truong Trong Nghia (Ho Chi Minh City Delegation) said that education is a career of cultivating people. To successfully cultivate people, there must be three pillars: the State, society and family.

The delegate said that the National Assembly questioned the Minister about the role of the State, but the other two legs of the tripod each have their own irreplaceable roles.

" For example, when talking about school violence, we are talking about the impotence of goodness. But goodness, love, and kindness depend a lot on family and society. So some developed countries have begun to restrict students from using smartphones and social networks because social networks provide users with both good and bad, good and evil, and children cannot control themselves, " Mr. Truong Trong Nghia analyzed.

Therefore, the delegate believes that the National Assembly should call for the important role of family and society, in addition to the role of the State. For example, smart TVs have a mode to control children's programs, but how many people use them?
