Solomon Islands Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade to pay official visit to Vietnam

At the invitation of Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung, Solomon Islands Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Peter Shanel Agovaka will pay an official visit to Vietnam from November 10-13.

Vietnam and Solomon Islands established diplomatic relations on October 30, 1996. With the policy of being a friend and a trustworthy partner, Vietnam always wishes to promote friendship and cooperation with Pacific countries, including Solomon Islands.

The Solomon Islands are located in the South Pacific Ocean , with nearly 1,000 islands, with a total area of ​​about 28,400km ² . The island nation declared independence in 1978.

Previously, in June 2025, on the occasion of attending the 3rd United Nations Ocean Summit (UNOC 3) in Nice (France), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Solomon Islands Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele. This was the first time in many years that high-ranking leaders of the two countries had direct contact.

Here, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh once again emphasized Vietnam's policy of being a friend and reliable partner to all countries. Vietnam wishes to promote friendship and cooperation with Pacific countries, including the Solomon Islands.
