First released in 2010, Hilda has made a big splash around the world, loved by many readers in countries such as France, Germany, Italy, Sweden... By 2018, Hilda was adapted into a popular animated series on Netflix.
The main character of the series is Hilda, an 11-year-old adventurer with distinctive blue hair, a smart, brave and freedom-loving girl. Since childhood, Hilda has lived with her mother in a valley, surrounded by dense forests and magical nature. She has a trustworthy companion, the fox deer Twig, and a lonely wooden neighbor. Every day of Hilda's life is new and exciting: camping, painting, meeting scary stone demons, mysterious giants, helping the trolls...
Then one day, Hilda finds her world turned upside down when she has to leave her hometown to live in the bustling city of Trolberg. But with her mischievousness and kindness, she makes new friends, joins the Sparrow Scouts and never stops adventuring.
With a captivating plot, Hilda's adventures are not only fascinating with many unexpected challenges but also contain many lessons about family affection, friendship, courage and perseverance. Along with that, the series is also vividly illustrated by the author Luke Pearson himself. Thanks to that, the pages are illustrated with beautiful, vivid and extremely cute pictures. Flipping through each page, readers feel like they are immersed in magical films.
The world in the book is inspired by Norse mythology in the 1990s, where supernatural creatures coexist with humans. Although labeled for children, the Hilda series is suitable for all ages. Whether children or adults, Hilda can bring you moments of relaxation and creative inspiration. Every action and word of Hilda makes readers laugh because of the wit and cuteness of children, while still interwoven with many meaningful lessons in life.
