Four plastic barrels of Glacial Acetic acid fell on the street, smelling bad, making people nauseous

On the morning of October 23, a tractor trailer carrying many large plastic barrels containing liquid running on Le Loi Street (Cam Thanh Ward, Quang Ngai ) suddenly fell onto the road. The plastic barrel with the label Glacial Acetic acid spilled onto the road, emitting an unpleasant smell, making many people cover their noses and feel nauseous.

According to initial information, at about 7:40 a.m., a tractor trailer with license plate 76F-006... (driver's identity unknown) was carrying 7 plastic barrels with labels reading Glacial Acetic acid on Le Loi Street (from Quang Phu Industrial Park to Highway 1).

During transportation, these liquid tanks are protected by a surrounding steel frame.

When arriving in front of house number 36 Le Loi, it is unclear what happened to the vehicle causing 4 large plastic barrels containing liquid to fall onto the road. One barrel broke and spilled onto the road.

The white liquid had a strong foul smell, causing many passersby and residents nearby to feel nauseous, have headaches, and have tears.

Not knowing what the substance was, but seeing the sticker and the strong smell, people in the area quickly closed their shops and put on masks.

"The smell is so bad, my eyes sting and I feel nauseous even from a distance. I hope the authorities will soon clarify and handle the situation thoroughly to avoid affecting people's health," said a resident living nearby.

The reporter noted that the spilled liquid was contained in a tank with a capacity of more than 1,000 liters. On the side of the tank was a piece of paper with the words Glacial Acetic acid, along with symbols including: flammable liquid symbol and corrosive symbol, made in China.

Immediately after the incident, Cam Thanh Ward Police coordinated with the traffic police of Quang Ngai Province Police to quickly arrive at the scene to make a record and direct traffic.

Authorities are currently working with the driver to identify the type of liquid.
