New and strange, mulberry bonsai pots with many unique shapes are becoming sought-after ornamental plants in recent years.
Mr. Tran Van Quy (residing on Tran Quy Cap Street, Tay Son Ward, Pleiku City, Gia Lai Province) is one of the famous mulberry bonsai "players" in the mountainous town of Pleiku. The number of mulberry bonsai he owns is up to more than 200 trees.
On average, each small mulberry pot costs from 300,000 to 5 million VND, while a large pot costs up to 31 million VND.
“At first, not all trees we bring home have a shape, sometimes they are just bare, rough stumps. After taking care of the tree so that it grows normally, with branches and leaves, we start to form ideas and shape the tree," Mr. Quy shared.
According to Mr. Quy, mulberry trees with large roots, old branches and lots of fruit will have higher value. In addition, trees with beautiful roots or strange shapes will be sought after by many people.
Mulberry trees usually bear fruit twice a year, each lasting two months. The ripe red mulberries grow from the tree trunk, so they are very valuable to bonsai enthusiasts.
