A "feast" of the finest aspects of folk culture is about to take place in Ninh Binh.

VHO - The first Ninh Binh Province Folk Culture Festival of Typical Historical Sites – 2025, taking place in mid-November, will be a place where locals and tourists can enjoy a "feast" of the finest folk culture of the ancient capital region.

The Nộn Khê village communal house (Yên Từ commune) will be the venue for the cultural festival featuring theatrical performances and Xẩm singing.

The first Ninh Binh Province Folk Culture Festival of Outstanding Historical Sites – 2025, with the theme “Ninh Binh Province’s Historical and Cultural Sites: Convergence and Dissemination of Millennium Values,” aims to convey the message “Honoring Heritage – Connecting Communities – Sustainable Development.”

The event will be held at the Lảnh Giang Temple, a National Historical and Cultural Monument (Duy Tân Ward, Ninh Bình Province). It is tentatively scheduled for two days in mid-November.

According to Vu Thanh Lich, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ninh Binh province: The festival is an opportunity to promote and raise awareness among all levels, sectors, and the community in restoring and promoting the value of traditional culture in general, historical and cultural relics and scenic spots in particular, contributing to building and developing a progressive culture and people of Ninh Binh, rich in national identity.

This is also an opportunity to introduce traditional culture and typical historical and cultural values of the relics to a large number of people and tourists from all over the world as well as international friends.

The festival will provide an opportunity for the management boards of historical sites in the province to meet, interact, and exchange experiences on the management, preservation, restoration, and mobilization of social resources in preserving and promoting the value of historical sites in their localities.

At the same time, this is also a practical activity to celebrate important national and Ninh Binh province holidays and political events in 2025, to welcome the First Ninh Binh Provincial Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term, and to celebrate Vietnam Heritage Day on November 23.

The first Ninh Binh Province Folk Culture Festival of Outstanding Historical Sites – 2025 is an opportunity to introduce the traditional culture and typical historical and cultural values of the sites to a wide audience of people, tourists from all over the country, and international friends.

In addition, social customs and beliefs at historical sites are also showcased, such as: ceremonial rituals, customs associated with commemorative ceremonies on victory anniversaries, birth dates, and death anniversaries of village guardian deities, as well as other religious practices.

In addition, this festival will also feature traditional folk sports such as lion dance, spirit dance, drum performance, rice cooking competition, ball wrestling, and bridge snatching…

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thanh, Chief of the Office of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ninh Binh province, said: Currently, there are 8 delegations with 8 representative relics participating in the first Ninh Binh Province Folk Culture Festival of Representative Relics – 2025.

The historical sites will showcase the finest aspects of folk culture, such as: Tran Temple and Pho Minh Pagoda will perform the "ritual of worshiping the saint"; Non Khe Village communal house will perform "Xam singing art"; Chay communal house will perform "Trong Quan singing art"; Tran Thuong Temple will perform the "ritual of worshiping Saint Tran"; Lieu Doi communal house will perform the "Lieu Doi wrestling" ritual…

Mr. An Viet Tho, Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Department of Yen Tu commune, shared: "At this festival, the locality is bringing two unique folk performances: the theatrical performance 'Non Khe Village - From the clear stream to the heroic bloodline' performed by 10 artisans and people, and the Xam song 'A Heritage Region of Non Khe' performed by 7 artisans and people."

For many months, we, along with the management board of Non Khe village communal house relics and local artisans and people, have been diligently practicing theatrical performances and Xam songs to bring the best and most impressive performances to the festival, so that tourists and locals can enjoy and learn more about the beautiful folk culture of our nation.
